Obama's SotU Speech In A Nutshell And Why I am Done With It

I do want to finish Obama’s State of the Union speech, but somehow I think that that isn’t going to happen. The reason for this is because of several different things. The first reason being that I didn’t realize how little of the speech I would be able to address per post. I have done six posts already and only just hit the half way mark on the speech, so in light of that let me sum the whole thing up in a nice and neat little package. Obama’s SotU speech is basically an unrealistic wish list of what he wants to accomplish no matter how badly it exceeds his authority or goes against the Constitution. In fact Obama goes so far as to say in it that he feels the problem with the Government as it is… is that there is too much Government. Normally, I would agree, but the way that he means it is that he feels that 3 branches of government are too much, therefor in his SotU speech he actually asks Congress to turn over their over to the Executive branch , in other words, him. The one paragraph alone where he says this provides me with enough material for an entire blog post, but, I won’t go into that because that is not the point of this post.

The fact that it took me six posts to get halfway through his speech is pathetic, not on my part, but on his. He thinks that we the people are a bunch of ignorant fools who hang on his every word. His blowhard attitude comes across in his long winded, lie filled, explanation to why he wants to be America’s first dictator.

Looking back, the way I should have covered his SotU speech was by taking highlights and going over them, but the more I read of it the more I became convinced I needed to go through it word for word. That was my mistake. I apologize to those who were reading it and were looking forward to me finishing it.

The second reason is that there are other things in the news I want to talk about and cover. As long as I was focusing on Obama’s SotU speech then I was taking my attention away from more current events that I feel are more important than Obama’s narcissistic babbling on about nothing relevant to the real world.

The third reason is that I have started on my second novel. For those of you that have been following me for a while know that last year I took some time off from posting to write “Shadows of the Western Moon” and for those of you that follow my other blog where I talk about my non-political writings, you will be happy to know that “Tears of the Western Moon” is now in the works. Once I finish this one I will probably start promoting these books in an effort to sell them to a publisher.

Also, since I am focusing on my second novel now, my postings will become fewer and further between until the novel is finished. I will still post here on Political Discourse, I will just be a bit more selective about what I post because I don’t want to waste your time or my time. Because of that, I am mainly going to try to hit on subjects that deal with the current Presidential and congressional elections, unless Obama does something stupid, which he more than likely will, in which case I will cover that as well.

Obama's State Of The Union 2012 Part 6

Part 6

“We can also spur energy innovation with new incentives. The differences in this chamber may be too deep right now to pass a comprehensive plan to fight climate change. But there's no reason why Congress shouldn't at least set a clean energy standard that creates a market for innovation. So far, you haven't acted. Well tonight, I will. I'm directing my Administration to allow the development of clean energy on enough public land to power three million homes. And I'm proud to announce that the Department of Defense, the world's largest consumer of energy, will make one of the largest commitments to clean energy in history - with the Navy purchasing enough capacity to power a quarter of a million homes a year.”

This whole statement makes me laugh. I mean, come on, everyone knows that Global Warming, err, that is to say, Climate Change, is a myth that has been propagated by years of falsified data and research. I am not saying that we shouldn’t try to be good stewards of the planet, but we don’t need to base what we do on lies that have been spread by people who have an agenda to promote their cause by falsifying information. As for the rest of Obama’s statement here, I just find it funny. I’ll let you figure out why.

“Of course, the easiest way to save money is to waste less energy. So here's another proposal: Help manufacturers eliminate energy waste in their factories and give businesses incentives to upgrade their buildings. Their energy bills will be $100 billion lower over the next decade, and America will have less pollution, more manufacturing, and more jobs for construction workers who need them. Send me a bill that creates these jobs.”

Wow, he is delusional. Oh well, I guess that is why they call it a wish list. That is what this entire speech is, a wish list. It sounds good but you know none of it is feasible nor will it ever get done.

“Building this new energy future should be just one part of a broader agenda to repair America's infrastructure. So much of America needs to be rebuilt. We've got crumbling roads and bridges. A power grid that wastes too much energy. An incomplete high-speed broadband network that prevents a small business owner in rural America from selling her products all over the world.”

Actually, our infrastructure is not that bad compared to the rest of the world. A lot of people like to show pictures of a bridge that collapsed in the central northern US to say we need the Federal Government to invest more in American Infrastructure then they off set it with pictures of brand new bridges built in Germany and China. What they don’t tell you it the American bridge collapsed when there was an earthquake (something that doesn’t often happen in that region) that was worse than the bridge was designed to withstand. Meanwhile the Chinese and German bridges are not typical bridges that are seen in those nations. If you were to take the percentages of bridges that are advanced in design and in good repair compared to the ones that are not, you would see that despite the fact that China and Germany spend 4 times as much money (percentage wise) on infrastructure as the US does, the US is far better off.

“During the Great Depression, America built the Hoover Dam and the Golden Gate Bridge. After World War II, we connected our States with a system of highways. Democratic and Republican administrations invested in great projects that benefited everybody, from the workers who built them to the businesses that still use them today.

In the next few weeks, I will sign an Executive Order clearing away the red tape that slows down too many construction projects. But you need to fund these projects. Take the money we're no longer spending at war, use half of it to pay down our debt, and use the rest to do some nation-building right here at home.”

How about use all of that money to pay down the debt and let the states worry about their own roads and bridges. The only money that the Federal money that is needed is for the interstate road way systems, which is already over funded though you wouldn’t know it due to the wasteful spending of the people who run it. Why not take the existing money and (as Obama puts it) clear some of that red tape away. I think that then they would find out that they have more than enough money for what is needed.

“There's never been a better time to build, especially since the construction industry was one of the hardest-hit when the housing bubble burst. Of course, construction workers weren't the only ones hurt. So were millions of innocent Americans who've seen their home values decline. And while Government can't fix the problem on its own, responsible homeowners shouldn't have to sit and wait for the housing market to hit bottom to get some relief.

That's why I'm sending this Congress a plan that gives every responsible homeowner the chance to save about $3,000 a year on their mortgage, by refinancing at historically low interest rates. No more red tape. No more runaround from the banks. A small fee on the largest financial institutions will ensure that it won't add to the deficit, and will give banks that were rescued by taxpayers a chance to repay a deficit of trust.”

This really does sound good, as a homeowner myself that has been effected by the housing decline; I can see the benefit of this. But, I am hesitant to believe this or to trust that it will truly help. The reason for this is the money that will fund this has to come from somewhere. The unfortunate truth is that it is most likely going to be gained by raising taxes or cutting the tax breaks that home owners get. Either one of these is almost guaranteed to be worse than what we currently have to pay, effectively not saving us, the homeowners, anything.

Let's never forget: Millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules every day deserve a Government and a financial system that do the same. It's time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. An America built to last insists on responsibility from everybody.

“We've all paid the price for lenders who sold mortgages to people who couldn't afford them, and buyers who knew they couldn't afford them. That's why we need smart regulations to prevent irresponsible behavior. Rules to prevent financial fraud, or toxic dumping, or faulty medical devices, don't destroy the free market. They make the free market work better.”

What Obama is saying here is true, but it is also misleading. Rules and regulations do help the free market to work better, but only when they are used in moderation. The biggest thing that is hurting the free market today is overregulation. This is the whole reason that we had the trouble that led to the recession and the housing market collapse. When you overregulate, things either can’t get done that need to get done or the multitude of rules gets abused by playing the rules against themselves.

“There is no question that some regulations are outdated, unnecessary, or too costly. In fact, I've approved fewer regulations in the first three years of my presidency than my Republican predecessor did in his. I've ordered every federal agency to eliminate rules that don't make sense. We've already announced over 500 reforms, and just a fraction of them will save business and citizens more than $10 billion over the next five years. We got rid of one rule from 40 years ago that could have forced some dairy farmers to spend $10,000 a year proving that they could contain a spill - because milk was somehow classified as an oil. With a rule like that, I guess it was worth crying over spilled milk.”

Actually, over all, Obama has approved passed more regulations in his first 3 years then Bush did in his 8. As for his administration reforming regulations that are out dated, Obama has shown in the past that he isn’t really interested in true reform of these regulations; he wants to expand upon them. If, he is telling the truth (and I doubt it, though I will admit I don’t know the truth about this claim. I cannot find anything to reference his claim) about the rule for dairy farmers that he talks about here, then I say, good for him, but there is so much more that needs to be done. Also if he is telling the truth, then how many regulations did he impose to offset that rule’s removal? I bet the answer is more than one.

“I'm confident a farmer can contain a milk spill without a federal agency looking over his shoulder. But I will not back down from making sure an oil company can contain the kind of oil spill we saw in the Gulf two years ago. I will not back down from protecting our kids from mercury pollution, or making sure that our food is safe and our water is clean. I will not go back to the days when health insurance companies had unchecked power to cancel your policy, deny you coverage, or charge women differently from men.”

Ok, where to start… I guess I will start with the gulf oil spill… Obama, you really dropped the ball on that one. You took over 90 days to respond to it all the while, blocking all outside help that was trying to lend a hand to help contain and clean it up. That spill was your Katrina and you just used it to play class warfare politics by taking the opportunity it presented to you. You used it to shut down a good portion of the industry that refines oil, hurting thousands of families in the process, and to promote your environmental agenda that does not take the US citizen into consideration. You could care less about clean air or clean water, all you care about is if promoting them promotes you and your agenda.

Also, stop lying about the health insurance companies; I am sick of hearing you tell the same lies about them over and over. As for the health insurance companies charging more for women over men, (and I know I am going to catch flak for this one, but bear with me) they should charge more. Women have more expensive testing (and they are tested more often than men) that they need to have done simply because they are women. Men’s healthcare, in general, is less expensive; therefor they should charge less for men. It isn’t that men are better than women or vice versa, it’s just that our bodies are made differently therefor testing is done differently and costs differing amounts.

So on that note Mr. Obama, shut your mouth, you will be more honest that way.

Obama's State Of The Union 2012 Part 5

“I believe as strongly as ever that we should take on illegal immigration. That's why my Administration has put more boots on the border than ever before. That's why there are fewer illegal crossings than when I took office.”

This statement simply is not true, look it up.

“The opponents of action are out of excuses. We should be working on comprehensive immigration reform right now. But if election-year politics keeps Congress from acting on a comprehensive plan, let's at least agree to stop expelling responsible young people who want to staff our labs, start new businesses, and defend this country. Send me a law that gives them the chance to earn their citizenship. I will sign it right away.”

As I have pointed out before, the Republicans in Congress has been trying to do what Obama is claiming he wants done, but the Dems in the Senate as well as the President himself have been getting in the way of any reforms being passed because it doesn’t match exactly what they think should be in the reforms that have been presented.

“You see, an economy built to last is one where we encourage the talent and ingenuity of every person in this country. That means women should earn equal pay for equal work. It means we should support everyone who's willing to work; and every risk-taker and entrepreneur who aspires to become the next Steve Jobs.”

I agree, too bad our President doesn’t practice that he preaches.

“After all, innovation is what America has always been about. Most new jobs are created in start-ups and small businesses. So let's pass an agenda that helps them succeed. Tear down regulations that prevent aspiring entrepreneurs from getting the financing to grow. Expand tax relief to small businesses that are raising wages and creating good jobs. Both parties agree on these ideas. So put them in a bill, and get it on my desk this year.”

And once again, The Congressional Republicans have been trying to do this repeatedly.

“Innovation also demands basic research. Today, the discoveries taking place in our federally-financed labs and universities could lead to new treatments that kill cancer cells but leave healthy ones untouched. New lightweight vests for cops and soldiers that can stop any bullet. Don't gut these investments in our budget. Don't let other countries win the race for the future. Support the same kind of research and innovation that led to the computer chip and the Internet; to new American jobs and new American industries.”

The President has spent the first 3 years in office blocking things like this because he things that green energy is more important and in that vein he and his administration continue to throw money down a hole that has only proven fruitful in Europe where they subsidize around 90% of the research and costs with only a maximum of about a 50% return on the investment.

“Nowhere is the promise of innovation greater than in American-made energy. Over the last three years, we've opened millions of new acres for oil and gas exploration, and tonight, I'm directing my Administration to open more than 75 percent of our potential offshore oil and gas resources. Right now, American oil production is the highest that it's been in eight years. That's right - eight years. Not only that - last year, we relied less on foreign oil than in any of the past sixteen years.”

This statement is so false it isn’t funny. Obama has done everything he can to prevent and block oil and gas exploration as well restricting the production to an all-time low since the Carter years with Job killing regulations. If Obama really is serious about opening 75% of our offshore resources, why has he worked toward blocking it when Republicans have been calling for it for this for the last 6 years?

“But with only 2 percent of the world's oil reserves, oil isn't enough. This country needs an all-out, all-of-the-above strategy that develops every available source of American energy - a strategy that's cleaner, cheaper, and full of new jobs.”

*sigh* We have more than 2% of the of the world’s oil reserves.

“We have a supply of natural gas that can last America nearly one hundred years, and my Administration will take every possible action to safely develop this energy. Experts believe this will support more than 600,000 jobs by the end of the decade. And I'm requiring all companies that drill for gas on public lands to disclose the chemicals they use. America will develop this resource without putting the health and safety of our citizens at risk.”

To Obama: Stop saying you want to do something when you have clearly shown in the past that you do not, seriously, just because it is an election year doesn’t mean that you can forget the last 3 years. Oh, and while I am thinking about it, the companies that drill for natural gas do disclose the chemicals that they use. They have to get Government approval in order to use them, you dunderhead.

“The development of natural gas will create jobs and power trucks and factories that are cleaner and cheaper, proving that we don't have to choose between our environment and our economy. And by the way, it was public research dollars, over the course of thirty years, that helped develop the technologies to extract all this natural gas out of shale rock - reminding us that Government support is critical in helping businesses get new energy ideas off the ground.”

The funding that Government put toward natural gas research has actually done as much to restrict the methods for getting natural gas as it has helped it.

“What's true for natural gas is true for clean energy. In three years, our partnership with the private sector has already positioned America to be the world's leading manufacturer of high-tech batteries. Because of federal investments, renewable energy use has nearly doubled. And thousands of Americans have jobs because of it.”

Dirty little secret, there is no truly clean energy. As much as Obama and environmentalist want to think that there is, there isn’t. Every form of energy comes with some form of waste and pollutant attached to it. Yes even the batteries that he is so proud of. Oh, and the renewable energy market is only thriving because of Government grants. Without those is would have slipped into nothingness because it is inefficient as an energy source. Also if you are wondering why I say that there is not clean energy… Think about everything that goes into making clean energy happen. If you do you will find something that isn’t quite as clean as they would lead you to believe.

“When Bryan Ritterby was laid off from his job making furniture, he said he worried that at 55, no one would give him a second chance. But he found work at Energetx, a wind turbine manufacturer in Michigan. Before the recession, the factory only made luxury yachts. Today, it's hiring workers like Bryan, who said, "I'm proud to be working in the industry of the future."”

Ok, and?

“Our experience with shale gas shows us that the payoffs on these public investments don't always come right away. Some technologies don't pan out; some companies fail. But I will not walk away from the promise of clean energy. I will not walk away from workers like Bryan. I will not cede the wind or solar or battery industry to China or Germany because we refuse to make the same commitment here. We have subsidized oil companies for a century. That's long enough. It's time to end the taxpayer giveaways to an industry that's rarely been more profitable, and double-down on a clean energy industry that's never been more promising. Pass clean energy tax credits and create these jobs.”

True, investments don’t pay out right away, that is the way of the world, and it is rare that they do. Also some technologies don’t pan out and some companies do fail… like Solyndra, which Obama knew was going to fail yet gave them half a billion dollars of tax payer money anyway. They only reason that china and Germany have such seemingly good solar, wind and battery industries is because they pay out the ass to subsidize them and they are slowly being dragged into a hole because of it. That is why China is starting to invest in oil. Oil is the only source of energy that has proven profitable all over the world, all other forms of energy fall short in comparison. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t research these sources of energy, we should and hopefully one day it will pay off, but we need to go about it much wiser then we have because otherwise we are just wasting money that can be better spent.

Obamas State Of The Union 2012 Part 4

“Jackie Bray is a single mom from North Carolina who was laid off from her job as a mechanic. Then Siemens opened a gas turbine factory in Charlotte, and formed a partnership with Central Piedmont Community College. The company helped the college design courses in laser and robotics training. It paid Jackie's tuition, then hired her to help operate their plant.

I want every American looking for work to have the same opportunity as Jackie did. Join me in a national commitment to train two million Americans with skills that will lead directly to a job. My Administration has already lined up more companies that want to help. Model partnerships between businesses like Siemens and community colleges in places like Charlotte, Orlando, and Louisville are up and running. Now you need to give more community colleges the resources they need to become community career centers - places that teach people skills that local businesses are looking for right now, from data management to high-tech manufacturing.

And I want to cut through the maze of confusing training programs, so that from now on, people like Jackie have one program, one website, and one place to go for all the information and help they need. It's time to turn our unemployment system into a reemployment system that puts people to work.”

You know, all of this sounds good but there is just one tiny problem with what Obama is saying here, every American already has the same opportunity that this woman named Jackie had. That is the way the free market works. If a business wants someone bad enough because they demonstrated that they have something special to bring to that business, then they will go out of their way to hire those individuals and train them. We don’t need the Government for that. If Obama wants to help out the smaller businesses that may struggle to afford training people like this then I say fine, but larger companies like Siemens can already afford to do this without government assistance, oh and while I am at it… don’t attach a bunch of strings because then none of the businesses that could use the money would be willing to because it would not be worth it.

As for the training programs being different, that is because different states require different things. This boils down to a state issue and the Federal Government needs to keep their hands out of it. The states reserve the right to set these regulations because of the different circumstances in each state.

“These reforms will help people get jobs that are open today. But to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow, our commitment to skills and education has to start earlier.

For less than one percent of what our Nation spends on education each year, we've convinced nearly every State in the country to raise their standards for teaching and learning - the first time that's happened in a generation.”

Actually, what he is calling raising standards is in truth lowering them. The reason I say this is class rooms now can only move as fast as the slowest student in them and we have done away with the special education programs that were reserved for the slower and more challenged students in an effort to make them feel better about themselves. If we want to raise the standards we need to reinstitute the special education programs so that those students that need it will be able to get the education they need while the students that do not require that level of special attention can get the education they need. With the current system we are holding our brightest students back and they are suffering for it.

“But challenges remain. And we know how to solve them.”

Yes we do, vote Obama out and get rid of the Department of Education. Turn the education system back over to the states.

“At a time when other countries are doubling down on education, tight budgets have forced States to lay off thousands of teachers. We know a good teacher can increase the lifetime income of a classroom by over $250,000. A great teacher can offer an escape from poverty to the child who dreams beyond his circumstance. Every person in this chamber can point to a teacher who changed the trajectory of their lives. Most teachers work tirelessly, with modest pay, sometimes digging into their own pocket for school supplies - just to make a difference.

Teachers matter. So instead of bashing them, or defending the status quo, let's offer schools a deal. Give them the resources to keep good teachers on the job, and reward the best ones. In return, grant schools flexibility: To teach with creativity and passion; to stop teaching to the test; and to replace teachers who just aren't helping kids learn.”

Once again I have to say, if Obama really means what he said than you need to turn the education system back over to the states. Also in order to do what he claims he wants then we seriously need to look at tenure and reform it. Tenure is one of the reasons that we have teachers that should not be teaching in our schools and the sooner they can be held responsible the sooner thing will be able to improve. Traditionally, the Dems are against tenure reform because that puts the teachers that try to indoctrinate student toward the liberal agenda at risk.

“We also know that when students aren't allowed to walk away from their education, more of them walk the stage to get their diploma. So tonight, I call on every State to require that all students stay in high school until they graduate or turn eighteen.”

I have to disagree with this. Every student that drops out does it for their own reasons. Some do it because they know they won’t graduate and that allows them to enter the work force earlier to get valuable experience, others drop out so that they can get their GED and move on to college. There are numerous reasons that students drop out of high school, some good some bad. This call to change the way that students can drop out is not a good one because he does not want circumstances taken into consideration.

“When kids do graduate, the most daunting challenge can be the cost of college. At a time when Americans owe more in tuition debt than credit card debt, this Congress needs to stop the interest rates on student loans from doubling in July. Extend the tuition tax credit we started that saves middle-class families thousands of dollars. And give more young people the chance to earn their way through college by doubling the number of work-study jobs in the next five years.”

All of this I actually agree with the President on.

“Of course, it's not enough for us to increase student aid. We can't just keep subsidizing skyrocketing tuition; we'll run out of money. States also need to do their part, by making higher education a higher priority in their budgets. And colleges and universities have to do their part by working to keep costs down. Recently, I spoke with a group of college presidents who've done just that. Some schools re-design courses to help students finish more quickly. Some use better technology. The point is, it's possible. So let me put colleges and universities on notice: If you can't stop tuition from going up, the funding you get from taxpayers will go down. Higher education can't be a luxury - it's an economic imperative that every family in America should be able to afford.”

And then Obama drops the ball here. The states do their part; the main thing that is driving tuition costs up is the fact that the Federal Government restricts what can be taught at each university and college. This makes some schools worth more than others and since those schools are worth more, they charge more because they have to pay more to the professors that they have to hire. If the universities and colleges were allowed to teach any programs they desired instead of having to conform to what the Government dictates (which they do because they don’t want a lot of competition between universities and colleges on the programs that are taught.

Can these schools do more to lower costs? Yes they can and they should, but threatening to take funding away from them if they don’t comply with your will is just wrong. If this were to happen the more tuitions costs would just go up that much more to make up for what the Government won’t cover. Higher education is a luxury despite what the President says. There are plenty of programs out there to help people who cannot afford to pay for it on their own, but the recipient has to earn the right to get that money. If you can’t afford it and don’t have the drive to do what it takes to get the student loans, scholarships or grants to help you pay for it then you don’t need it. Everyone has a fair chance at getting a higher education, they just have to want it, but they are not entitled to it.

Also, think of it like this, if everyone went to college and graduated then the value of that education would drop drastically because the job market would be flooded and then you would have a bunch of highly educated people who could not get the jobs that they have been educating themselves for over the course of the last 2 to 4 years (assuming they stop with their bachelor’s degree). Most of these people would refuse to do any “lesser” jobs because they would think it was beneath them, after all, who wants to flip burgers when you have a degree in engineering of physics? Just saying.

“Let's also remember that hundreds of thousands of talented, hardworking students in this country face another challenge: The fact that they aren't yet American citizens. Many were brought here as small children, are American through and through, yet they live every day with the threat of deportation. Others came more recently, to study business and science and engineering, but as soon as they get their degree, we send them home to invent new products and create new jobs somewhere else.

That doesn't make sense.”

Yes it does. If they want to stay in the US they can apply for citizenship like any other LEGAL citizen that has immigrated has done. As for the children, I hate to say that they should be punished for the crimes of their parents but, at least they can still be with their family once they all are sent back to where they came from. If the parents demonstrate that they have no respect for American laws, and then they should be punished, unfortunately the children are affected too, but the parents should have thought about that before they broke the law. American children suffer everyday as they are shipped off to foster homes because their parents broke the law, children that are here illegally should not be given any special treatment. Sure it isn’t their fault, but they are their parent’s responsibility. If their parents bring them then they should leave with them. If they want to come back then they should have to do like everyone else and go about it the legal way. Cases of people seeking asylum are different and should be treated differently. But we are not currently talking about people seeking asylum in the US.

If the foreigners that come to the US for whatever reason want to stay then they should have the respect for the nation that they wish to live in and strive for citizenship the proper way.

Obama's State Of The Union 2012 Part 3

“What's happening in Detroit can happen in other industries. It can happen in Cleveland and Pittsburgh and Raleigh. We can't bring back every job that's left our shores. But right now, it's getting more expensive to do business in places like China. Meanwhile, America is more productive. A few weeks ago, the CEO of Master Lock told me that it now makes business sense for him to bring jobs back home. Today, for the first time in fifteen years, Master Lock's unionized plant in Milwaukee is running at full capacity.

So we have a huge opportunity, at this moment, to bring manufacturing back. But we have to seize it. Tonight, my message to business leaders is simple: Ask yourselves what you can do to bring jobs back to your country, and your country will do everything we can to help you succeed.”

While it is getting more expensive to do business in places overseas, the reason for that is simple. The global economy is suffering. Therefor the costs of doing business anywhere is going up, including here in the US. Obama wants to know what it will take to bring manufacturing back to the US, that is simple too. Get rid of him and every politician that thinks like he does when it comes to over regulation, that will bring more jobs back to the US because it will make it easier for manufacturing businesses to do business here in the US. Also, make the entire US right to work so that unions can’t force people to join them if they want a job. Unions have been one of the biggest hindrances to the manufacturing market for a long time. I am not saying to do away with the unions because they can be a good thing when they do what they are supposed to do, but give the hard working Americans a choice whether or not they want to join.

“We should start with our tax code. Right now, companies get tax breaks for moving jobs and profits overseas. Meanwhile, companies that choose to stay in America get hit with one of the highest tax rates in the world. It makes no sense, and everyone knows it.”

For the record, the Dems are the ones who wrote, promoted and passed the laws that set the system up like this.

“So let's change it. First, if you're a business that wants to outsource jobs, you shouldn't get a tax deduction for doing it. That money should be used to cover moving expenses for companies like Master Lock that decide to bring jobs home.”

I’m all for taking away the tax deductions that he is talking about. The money that a business saves just from going overseas won’t be affected so they will still go overseas. But what we should not do is have taxes raised on businesses that choice to operate in a friendlier environment so that the money can then be sent to businesses that chose not to go overseas.

“Second, no American company should be able to avoid paying its fair share of taxes by moving jobs and profits overseas. From now on, every multinational company should have to pay a basic minimum tax. And every penny should go towards lowering taxes for companies that choose to stay here and hire here.”

American companies pay more than their “fair share” (by the way, I am getting sick of hearing that phrase, it is a stupid thing to say) in taxes. They still pay taxes when it comes to importing and exporting goods. We should not be taxing operations in in foreign countries. The countries that those businesses operate in tax them for what is done there we should not penalize the company for trying to make an extra profit because that does come back home to make more jobs here in the US. I agree that we should incentivize businesses to stay here in the US, but we don’t need to do it by raising taxes on multinational businesses just so we can subsidize businesses that won’t go overseas. The business model that a business uses should be based off of where they can get best quality work for the lowest price so that they can them turn around and invest in the economy. Doing what Obama suggests will kill our import export trade and make the economy even worse.

“Third, if you're an American manufacturer, you should get a bigger tax cut. If you're a high-tech manufacturer, we should double the tax deduction you get for making products here. And if you want to relocate in a community that was hit hard when a factory left town, you should get help financing a new plant, equipment, or training for new workers.”

Once again, don’t have much of a problem with what he is saying here but I think he wants to go about it all the wrong way. As for the subsidizing he is suggesting see my previous comment.

“My message is simple. It's time to stop rewarding businesses that ship jobs overseas, and start rewarding companies that create jobs right here in America. Send me these tax reforms, and I'll sign them right away.”

But that is not what he is saying; he is saying he wants to punish businesses for going overseas. As for him signing tax reforms right way… Why hasn’t he or the Senate Dems back any of the tax reforms that are currently sitting in the senate because Harry Reed won’t even let them be brought to the floor? If you are going to say it Obama, you should at least look like you are trying to what you claim you want to do.

“We're also making it easier for American businesses to sell products all over the world. Two years ago, I set a goal of doubling U.S. exports over five years. With the bipartisan trade agreements I signed into law, we are on track to meet that goal - ahead of schedule. Soon, there will be millions of new customers for American goods in Panama, Columbia, and South Korea. Soon, there will be new cars on the streets of Seoul imported from Detroit, and Toledo, and Chicago.”

That is just a dream as long as Obama and the Dems keep up their policies when it comes to taxation. The fact of the matter is when it comes to exporting you have to create a friendly environment for businesses here in the US, including the ones that are forced to import due to regulations. Until you do that, the costs of American products are going to be too high in an overseas market and you will be throwing money down a hole while trying to succeed, especially since most other nations see our good as inferior with the exception of our food exports.

“I will go anywhere in the world to open new markets for American products. And I will not stand by when our competitors don't play by the rules. We've brought trade cases against China at nearly twice the rate as the last administration - and it's made a difference. Over a thousand Americans are working today because we stopped a surge in Chinese tires. But we need to do more. It's not right when another country lets our movies, music, and software be pirated. It's not fair when foreign manufacturers have a leg up on ours only because they're heavily subsidized.”

This statement makes me laugh. Obama knows that he only goes all over the world to take vacations. As for bringing cases against our competitors in other nations, so what, the fact of the matter is if China or Russia are going to abuse the rules then that is what they will do. Obama and his administration can’t stop that. Their bringing cases against foreign imports has not created jobs, it has just raised the cost on those imports that has actually hurt production in the US. The only reason that unemployment is starting to drop is because despite what his administration has done the American market is strong and will recover, just at a slower rate.

By the way, did you notice the little nod toward SOPA and PIPA? For more on that you can read my post about those two bills.

As for the last part of this statement, the reason that foreign manufacturers have a leg up on us isn’t subsidies, it is the fact that labor is significantly cheaper, which is one of the things that is killing manufacturing here. There are some companies here in the US that, due to unions, have to pay their lowest paid workers a minimum of $25 an hour plus provide a complete benefits package. If these manufacturers were allowed to either cut wages or make the work pay for part of their benefits then they would have an easier time competing worldwide.

“Tonight, I'm announcing the creation of a Trade Enforcement Unit that will be charged with investigating unfair trade practices in countries like China. There will be more inspections to prevent counterfeit or unsafe goods from crossing our borders. And this Congress should make sure that no foreign company has an advantage over American manufacturing when it comes to accessing finance or new markets like Russia. Our workers are the most productive on Earth, and if the playing field is level, I promise you - America will always win.”

Umm, we have laws and departments in the government that already do this why do we need another? Make the ones that are supposed to be handling this do their job of get rid of them. As for what Obama is saying Congress should do, they have been trying to accomplish that but Obama and the Senate have been stonewalling them.

“I also hear from many business leaders who want to hire in the United States but can't find workers with the right skills. Growing industries in science and technology have twice as many openings as we have workers who can do the job. Think about that - openings at a time when millions of Americans are looking for work.

That's inexcusable. And we know how to fix it.”

Once again, yes we do. Get rid of Obama and elect someone who cares about America. The main issue when it comes down to this is education. We need to turn education back over to the states instead of dragging all states down to the lowest common denominator. The Department of Education has done more to hurt education in this country by introducing programs like “No Child Left Behind” (more like no child gets ahead) which was passed under Bush. We need to challenge our children in order for them to succeed, but until he stop holding them back until the ones that struggle catch up, that is not going to happen.

Obama's State Of The Union 2012 Part 2

I hope you enjoyed Part 1. I am going to be a bit more pithy for part 2 so that hopefully I can get through more of this speech because otherwise it is going to take me about 10 parts to finish it. Here is Part 2 for your viewing pleasure.

“Let's remember how we got here. Long before the recession, jobs and manufacturing began leaving our shores. Technology made businesses more efficient, but also made some jobs obsolete. Folks at the top saw their incomes rise like never before, but most hardworking Americans struggled with costs that were growing, paychecks that weren't, and personal debt that kept piling up.”

Ok, I agree with Obama on the first part of this statement, long before the recession jobs were leaving our shore to go to foreign soil. This mainly happened during the Clinton years when the Dems had control of the House and the Senate. When bush came into office he killed some of the Clinton taxes and regulations which then started to pull us out of the hole that Clinton had put us in. Yes the wealthiest in the country got wealthier from it but we also say them hiring more people once they had more money to do so. It was Reganonics in action. Then once the Dems got control of the House and Senate during the Bush years that is when we saw the tide start to turn toward the negative which led us to the recession. A lot of people, Obama included, want to blame Bush for this but if you look at the facts, while Bush didn’t help, the Dems are the reason the recession happened, after all the House has the power of the purse. While Obama says that technology has made some jobs obsolete, he neglects to say that it also created countless new jobs. He wants to blame kiosks and ATMs for unemployment which is just silly. Also, when he talks about cost growing and paychecks not for most Americans he needs to realize that the core reason for that is him and his party. They income killing regulations that they have introduced along with refusing to pass a budget when the Republicans have offered multiple budgets has created an uncertainty that has prevented growth and increased costs.

“In 2008, the house of cards collapsed. We learned that mortgages had been sold to people who couldn't afford or understand them. Banks had made huge bets and bonuses with other people's money. Regulators had looked the other way, or didn't have the authority to stop the bad behavior.”

Thank you Barney Frank. That is all, look it up if you don’t get it.

“It was wrong. It was irresponsible. And it plunged our economy into a crisis that put millions out of work, saddled us with more debt, and left innocent, hard-working Americans holding the bag. In the six months before I took office, we lost nearly four million jobs. And we lost another four million before our policies were in full effect.”

Once again, thank you Barney Frank. Now, for that last sentence… Actually the recession could have been avoided if the Dems would not have gotten in the way of some of the stuff that the Republicans managed to squeeze through at the end of the last Bush term. Obama and the Dems policies actually slowed the recovery by allowed us to slip into the recession that they themselves had constructed in order to create an atmosphere of uncertainty so that Obama could get elected. To put in in the words of one of Obama’s key advisors “Never waste a crisis.”

“Those are the facts. But so are these. In the last 22 months, businesses have created more than three million jobs. Last year, they created the most jobs since 2005. American manufacturers are hiring again, creating jobs for the first time since the late 1990s. Together, we've agreed to cut the deficit by more than $2 trillion. And we've put in place new rules to hold Wall Street accountable, so a crisis like that never happens again.”

Poor, poor, Obama. He really needs a fact checker. Businesses have not created more than 3 million jobs, they have reopened those positions… and in some cases those jobs can be counted multiple times due to reopening, then having to close the position again, then reopening again. It makes it sound good if you count if all like that but it is not realistic, otherwise unemployment would be much lower. Also, it is not the most jobs since 2005 (which is right before the Dems took control of both the House and Senate) it is the most since 2008, when Obama took office

As for the line about American Manufacturers hiring again for the first time since the 90’s… That is utter BS and I am calling Obama on that.

The truth behind the deficit cut is simple. It wasn’t cut. They agreed to reduce spending not cut spending; there is a big difference there. On top of that the reduction turned out to be in the million not the trillions, I did a post on this when it happened, go read it please.

As for the Wall Street thing… They were just playing by the rules and regulations that the Dems placed there for them; can you blame them for wanting to make more money? So when you think about it, this is really all the Dems fault for making rules that they didn’t like. So what do they do, they change them which shakes things up so much that they have now gimped Wall Street which is one of the things that is slowing the economic recovery.

“The state of our Union is getting stronger. And we've come too far to turn back now. As long as I'm President, I will work with anyone in this chamber to build on this momentum. But I intend to fight obstruction with action, and I will oppose any effort to return to the very same policies that brought on this economic crisis in the first place.”

This is to you Mr. President. No it isn’t and no we haven’t. You need to stop lying about being willing to work with anyone that was in that chamber because you have purposefully obstructed anything the Republicans have tried to do because it didn’t fit your vision of how things should be. As for your fighting obstruction with action… learn your place. You do not have the power to go over Congresses head unless they let you and you have overstepped your bounds way to many times for most Americans to feel comfortable with. You have been the obstructionist and you, while you were in the Senate, were one of the people that wrote the policies that brought about this “economic crisis”. So get over yourself you narcissistic fool.

“No, we will not go back to an economy weakened by outsourcing, bad debt, and phony financial profits. Tonight, I want to speak about how we move forward, and lay out a blueprint for an economy that's built to last - an economy built on American manufacturing, American energy, skills for American workers, and a renewal of American values.

This blueprint begins with American manufacturing.”

This would be all fine and dandy if I thought Obama really believed the words that he was reading off of his teleprompter but the facts are very simple if you look at Obama’s past performances. This is the exact opposite of everything he has done in the past. Could it be possible that the man has had a change of heart? Yes, but not likely. Obama is only saying this now because he knows that he has severely hurt his chances at reelection and he is trying desperately to get the American people back on his side otherwise he knows that he will be a one termer that will be known as he already is as the worst President in American history.

“On the day I took office, our auto industry was on the verge of collapse. Some even said we should let it die. With a million jobs at stake, I refused to let that happen. In exchange for help, we demanded responsibility. We got workers and automakers to settle their differences. We got the industry to retool and restructure. Today, General Motors is back on top as the world's number one automaker. Chrysler has grown faster in the U.S. than any major car company. Ford is investing billions in U.S. plants and factories. And together, the entire industry added nearly 160,000 jobs.

We bet on American workers. We bet on American ingenuity. And tonight, the American auto industry is back.”

Obama left out some key details in this. The bailout of General Motors and Chrysler began under Republican President George W. Bush, something Obama failed to mention. Obama then picked up the ball once he was elected and earmarked more money which then finished the job. But Ford, which Obama mentions, never asked for a federal bailout nor did it receive one. Ford has managed to get along quite well on its own without a bailout as the other auto companies should have been able to as well. Also, as part of its restructuring, Chrysler is not really a U.S. automaker anymore. Italian automaker Fiat now owns a 30% share, and it will eventually go to 51% under terms of the U.S. bailout and its bankruptcy restructuring. On top of that, I think that Volkswagen would have a problem with the claim that GM is on top as the world’s #1 automaker. Volkswagen has outperformed everyone else on the world market and is proud of it; GM hasn’t even come close to their numbers.

Once again I think Obama either needs to hire a new fact checker or quit lying. The American people are sick of this kind stuff from our politicians.

Obama's State Of The Union 2012 Part 1

Ok, I have debated with myself on how to approach the President’s State of the Union speech and after agonizing over how to present it to you, I figured that the best approach would be in multiple parts where I present it verbatim section by section and break it down for you. This will allow me to point out all of the truths, half-truths and lies (as well as my own opinionated opinions) that are held within it, so please bear with me; this is a long winded speech. So without further delay, here it is.

“Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, members of Congress, distinguished guests, and fellow Americans:

Last month, I went to Andrews Air Force Base and welcomed home some of our last troops to serve in Iraq. Together, we offered a final, proud salute to the colors under which more than a million of our fellow citizens fought - and several thousand gave their lives.

We gather tonight knowing that this generation of heroes has made the United States safer and more respected around the world. For the first time in nine years, there are no Americans fighting in Iraq. For the first time in two decades, Osama Bin Laden is not a threat to this country. Most of Al Qaeda's top lieutenants have been defeated. The Taliban's momentum has been broken, and some troops in Afghanistan have begun to come home.”

Ok, not a bad start for the President, I will give him that. There aren’t many lies in what he says here. One of the things he does here is sets it up to sound ling all of the things are due to him though which is not the whole truth. He talks about there being no Americans still fighting in Iraq which is a blatant lie. We still have a lot of private contractors that are over there and they have to fight everyday just to be able to do the job that has been given to them. No matter how he wants to spin it, Americans are still at risk in Iraq, especially since he pulled all of the troops that were supposed to be protecting them out of the country. Iraq is quickly falling into chaos because he decided to ignore his generals and pull the troops out of that country.

He should really give Bush the credit for some of these deeds yet his narcissism won’t allow him to do that. When he talks about the USA being safer and more respected in the world due to our troops that have sacrificed themselves overseas, he isn’t lying, yet one of the things that he neglects to say is that due to his incompetence we actually have lost that safety and respect that the troops have bought us. He also mentions Osama Bin Laden. I’m sorry, but the last time I checked that was a mission that carried over from Bush. Obama just happened to be lucky enough to be in office when the time to take Bin Laden out arose. He really should have given credit to where it was due, Bush and Seal Team 6.

He also mentions that most of Al Qaeda’s to lieutenants where defeated. That is true, most were taken out under Bush, not him though, once again, it would have been nice to see him man up and give credit where it was due. One thing Obama failed to mention though is that were one lieutenant has fallen, two have taken the place of the one. He talks about the momentum of the Taliban being broken, well that is true, yet they have not been deterred. The Taliban is more determined now then every to take us out.

Oh, and before I forget, I can’t argue with the fact that troops are starting to come home from Afghanistan because they are. Though he really needs to go and look back at history. He need to look at what all actually led up to allowing 9-11 to happen. Obama is making all of the mistakes Clinton made that set us up for the events of September 11^th.

“These achievements are a testament to the courage, selflessness, and teamwork of America's Armed Forces. At a time when too many of our institutions have let us down, they exceed all expectations. They're not consumed with personal ambition. They don't obsess over their differences. They focus on the mission at hand. They work together.”

I want to comment on this statement so bad, I do but I’m afraid I might come across as bitter… Screw it, here it is… This is obviously a jab at the Republican controlled Congress and Wall Street as well as capitalism as a whole in order to appeal to the Occupy zombies that drool over his every word. What he fails to mention is the fact that him and his party are the direct cause of these institutions supposedly letting us down. The Democrat party has pushed legislation for the last 6 years that has caused Wall Street and the whole capitalistic system to fail us by over regulating and obstructing the system from doing what it is supposed to do. On top of that, the Congress has done its job to the best of their ability. They have passed budgets and bills that have been completely ignored in the House so that the Dems in the House would not have to go on record as voting them down because they know that if they did they would be voted out. That is one of the reasons we have not had a budget passed for over 1,000 days. If Obama and the Democrat party would do their Job things would have gotten done and we would not be where we are now.

“Imagine what we could accomplish if we followed their example. Think about the America within our reach: A country that leads the world in educating its people. An America that attracts a new generation of high-tech manufacturing and high-paying jobs. A future where we're in control of our own energy, and our security and prosperity aren't so tied to unstable parts of the world. An economy built to last, where hard work pays off, and responsibility is rewarded.”

Thinking about it and wishing for it is fine Mr. President, but you actually have to do something to make this happen. So far you have done everything in your power to prevent any of the things you mention here from having a chance to happen. You can’t have it both ways you know.

“We can do this. I know we can, because we've done it before. At the end of World War II, when another generation of heroes returned home from combat, they built the strongest economy and middle class the world has ever known. My grandfather, a veteran of Patton's Army, got the chance to go to college on the GI Bill. My grandmother, who worked on a bomber assembly line, was part of a workforce that turned out the best products on Earth.”

Actually the strongest economy and middle class that the US has ever had came from when Regan was President. As for the troop being able to build a strong economy and middle class… How? You fired a good chunk of them that will now become an unnecessary burden on society because of your incompetence. If this was your desire you should have kept them employed so that they could be called out on a moment’s notice and once they returned to the US put them to work on domestic projects like protecting our borders… but wait, you don’t want that either. But you know what; I am done addressing you Mr. President. I have more important people to talk to… like your employers, the American people.

“The two of them shared the optimism of a Nation that had triumphed over a depression and fascism. They understood they were part of something larger; that they were contributing to a story of success that every American had a chance to share - the basic American promise that if you worked hard, you could do well enough to raise a family, own a home, send your kids to college, and put a little away for retirement.”

Obama talks about the American dream as if it were a thing of the past, and if he would be honest about it he would tell you that if he had his way it would be. The fact of the matter is the American dream still lives though if we continue to allow people like him to dictate our lives to us then the dream will die. Everything he is talking about Americans being able to do in the past tense is still possible and will remain so as long as we the people have the guts to hold on to it.

“The defining issue of our time is how to keep that promise alive. No challenge is more urgent. No debate is more important. We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by. Or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules. What's at stake are not Democratic values or Republican values, but American values. We have to reclaim them.”

Well, I actually have to agree with Obama here, I do; and the path to restoring our nation defiantly isn’t re-electing this idiot into office. What we need in order to do what he states here is to elect someone who will be brutally honest with the American people. Also we the people have to have the patience to let said individual do what needs to be done to pull us out of the hole that we are in. Unfortunately, none of the people we currently have running for the office of President are the type of person that we need and that is solely our (the American peoples) fault. I have always felt that brutal honesty is the best policy but as long as we have silver tonged politicians in office instead of honest hard working Americans, we will never get it. With this line Obama has laid out the exact reason that he does not need to be re-elected.

Most of my posts are between 2 to 3 pages in Word; this post is 4 pages just to give you an idea. I don’t know how many posts it will take to get through this whole thing but I hope it has been educational for you and you will come back for all the parts as I get them up.

What Is To Come And A Letter To Obama

Just to let all of you who read my blog know, I am slowly but surely working my way through a transcript of Obamas State of the Union speech. I plan on breaking the whole thing down piece by piece, dissecting it so that you won’t have too. It will more than likely be a multi-part post because of how long winded the speech is and all the crap there is to talk about that is in the speech. Once I finish slugging through the whole thing I will get to work on the posts. Thank you for your time and patience.

Though, since I have you here… I don’t know if you have heard about Obama’s childish little blow up at the Governor of Arizona, Gov. Jan Brewer because she didn’t talk favorably about him in her book. Let us examine this for a minuet… She is a Republican Governor of a mostly Republican state that has been targeted by Obama and his Justice Department over the state trying to enforce immigration laws by making their own since the Federal Government refuses to do its job on Obama’s orders… On top of that, the DoJ is targeting individual law enforcement agencies in her state with the express interest of preventing them from enforcing the laws that protect its citizens…

Talking to you now, Obama. You wonder why she talked poorly about you in her book? Perhaps because of all the crap you have done to try to harm her state and the people therein. Are you so narcissistic that you can’t comprehend that if you treat people poorly that they are going to return the favor? Do you understand that your idiotic actions have consequences? What kind of world do you live in? Do you live in a fantasy land where you do no wrong and everyone loves you because there is no other way that they could possibly feel since you obviously are the second coming? You sicken and disgust me with how pathetic you are. You need to grow the hell up and get over yourself. Just because you won the election (and through increasingly suspicious means…) doesn’t mean everyone is going to like you and the bs line that anyone who doesn’t line you must be racist is just that, bs. You want to know why I don’t like you? I don’t like you because you are actively trying to destroy the country that I love with your socialistic and communistic policies. It has nothing to do with your race so get over it. You are supposed to be an adult, act like one and quit crying you sniveling little baby!

SOPA and PIPA - The Path To Obstruction

Ok, I know I am a little late to the game with this piece, but I feel this needs to be said therefor I am saying it. The subjects I am going to talk about are the now infamous SOPA and PIPA bills that have yet to be presented in Congress. Luckily SOPA has been set on the back burner for now while congress tries to figure out a way to change the language so that it is not as intrusive as it is in its current form. At least that is the story that is being fed to us. I believe that Congress is just waiting for our short term memories to forget about SOPA so that they can try to pass it again under a different name. PIPA is still up for a vote soon unless something drastic happens. Hopefully, the internet wide protests that occurred when SOPA was about to be brought up will have had an impact on PIPA, if not, then maybe we will have another protest only wider spread. Ok, I guess since not everyone out there keeps up with current events, I need to start out by telling you all what SOPA and PIPA are.

I will start with SOPA, which stands for “Stop Online Piracy Act”. Of the two bills, SOPA is the more extreme in its language and potential execution. It intended to help fight copy right infringement on foreign websites. One of the tools SOPA provided allowed the U.S. Department of Justice could seek court orders requiring Internet service providers such as AOL, Comcast and Charter to block the domain names of “infringing sites”. For example, Comcast could prevent its customers from accessing megaupload.com. Luckily, this was one of the parts of SOPA that was dropped due to the opposition as well as the impracticality of actually enforcing it. The other tool would allow rights holders to seek court orders requiring payment providers, advertisers and search engines to stop doing business with an “infringing site”. Because of this, the rights holders would also be able to request for funding to be cut off from an “infringing site”, and that all search links leading to the offending site be required to be removed. Then site in question would have five days to appeal any action taken against them. Also, SOPA defines an “infringing site" as any site that is "committing or facilitating" copyright infringement, this blankets both domestic and foreign sites.

Now on to the subject of PIPA. PIPA stands for “Protect Intellectual Properties Act”. For the most part, PIPA is almost identical to SOPA with the main difference being the language. As I said before SOPA is the more extreme of the two. Whereas SOPA is very broad in its reach when it comes to a site that is committing or facilitating" copyright infringement, PIPA only target sites that have “no other significant use other than copyright infringement”. What this mean is, if any website has any purpose other than providing copyrighted material it should be safe from the ramifications of the bill, though a site will still have to prove that it is for other uses other than pirating. Sites that fileshare such as Rapidshare should, in theory, be safe from prosecution because they remove copyrighted material as soon as the owner of copyright requests it, while sites like Megaupload and PirateBay would be targeted due to their attempts to obstruct any attempts to force the removal of copyrighted material.

Speaking of Megaupload… want to see something that should terrify you? Go to megaupload.com and then come back here, I’ll wait… See? That is terrifying. Why? Because, Megaupload is based out of Hong Kong and the owner of the site was arrested from his home in New Zealand when the FBI had the site brought down. Yeah, anyway, Megaupload is supposedly NOT a victim of the fallout from upset bureaucrats over the dismissal of SOPA, yet I find the timing very suspicious. But I digress.

Now that I have given you some info on SOPA and PIPA I am going to tell you about my opinion of these two bills. SOPA and PIPA both are good in their intentions, they are. The main problem with them comes in the language that is used in the bills. I am all for protecting an individual’s intellectual properties, I am, but this hits a little close to home with me in the aspect of writing, therefor I am going to approach this from that viewpoint. After all, if someone stole the novel I wrote and distributed it without my permission and I, then, was unable take make any money off of it due to that, I would be upset. I know some people think that authors that get published make tons of money on their books, but unless an author is extremely prolific or well sold, such as Stephen King, they are not going to make a lot of money off of their writing (unless they are very lucky). When someone takes their book and uploads it to a site so that it can be distributed illegally that cuts into the sales of the book which cuts into the profits of the publisher and the royalties of the writer. Lack of sales creates lack of prints which then, if taken to its ultimate end, creates lack of work for the author. There are some companies that have found a way to profit from allowing books to be downloaded free of charge on select titles (Baen is one of them) but once again I digress.

SOPA and PIPA, like I said before are written with good intentions but they take the anti-piracy laws that we currently have and hype them up on steroids creating monstrous blanket laws that will infringe upon everyone’s life negatively in some way. I don’t care who you are, once these laws go into effect no one will be safe from them, and if taken to the extreme that everyone is afraid they will be taken to, even the owners of the properties that these laws are meant to protects will be harmed by them. Imagine an internet without ANY copyrighted material on it. That is the most extreme that these laws could potentially be taken too. I doubt they would go that far but dumber things have happened, after all look at who we currently have as President.

A realistic example of what is most likely to come out of either of these laws being passed is something along these lines… If you like to read or write fan fiction (fan stories based on intellectual properties such as popular books, games and TV series), you would no longer be allowed to write and distribute your stories nor could you receive and read the stories of others. Sites like YouTube and Deviant Art would have over 90% of their content stripped from them if there were not shut down. You could no longer read movie or book reviews online because they are based off of intellectual properties. Keep in mind, this is a realistic scenario. Sites that offer services like Netflix could be shut down at the whim of someone who thinks that they are not getting paid enough for the rights to be displayed by those services. The internet as we know it would go away.

SOPA and PIPA don’t need to just have the language changed; they need to be completely retooled in order to help strengthen our current anti-piracy laws instead of trying to override them with blanket laws that are so vaguely worded that they can be interpreted however anyone wants to interpret them to suit their desires. As it is, the laws we currently have are not effective, but I would take what we have over having our freedoms online striped from us almost completely. When we go down the path that SOPA and PIPA inadvertently will place us on, we will be brought that much closer to a communistic society.

Here in America we should realize the value of freedom and work to defend that freedom. For too long we have let the politician that sit in Washington slowly strip us from our natural born freedoms while telling us that it is for our own good. Hell, we currently have 32% of the population of this country who are happy with a President that has effectively said he wants to be our Dictator and will do what is necessary to become said Dictator (more on that in my next post where I tear apart Obama’s State of the Union speech.) if re-elected. We need to stand up and tell Washington DC “NO MORE!” and then start pushing for a real change that preserves and restores our freedom to where it should be.

The Pipeline Of Shattered Dreams or Obama Is Playing Politics Again... Big Shock.

OK, today’s topic is the Keystone Pipeline. Why am I talking about the Keystone Pipeline? Because I feel that this is going to become a key issue in the Presidential election. For those of you who have been living under a rock or that just don’t keep up with the news, the Keystone Pipeline is supposed to be a massive pipeline that carries oil all the way from our neighbors in the north, Canada, to the grand state of Texas. The Canadians have a bunch of oil but no refineries to process said oil into viable fuels. They offered to let the USA have a portion of said oil (lessening out dependence on the Middle East for oil since our politicians are too scared of environmental terrorist (environmentalists are terrorist as defined by me because of their attempts to terrify people over the effects we have on the environment) to drill here in the USA any more) if they could use the refineries in Texas. One of the catches to this deal was that we would be responsible for constructing and maintaining our portion of the pipeline.

Naturally one of the biggest draws of this project would be the amount of jobs that would come from the massive amounts of construction to build this pipeline across the US. Then, not only do you have the construction jobs for building it, you also have the jobs that come with maintenance on the pipeline as well as the extra Jobs that would open in the refineries that are all along the Gulf Coast. The jobs at the refineries would help stimulate the economies all along the Gulf Coast which has been suffering since the Obama/BP oil spill by putting people back to work in those regions that were laid off because of the Obama administrations actions afterword. But, as it turns out, this wonderful pipeline that would have been a God send to our struggling economy will probably never happen. Why? Because Obama is afraid of losing his environmentalist voting base.

You see, three years ago when this project was first proposed Obama was for it. He had three years to make sure all of the environmental impact studies were done and completed. As well as making sure that all the plans for the pipeline were drawn up and complete as well as alternative plans in case something were to happen to prevent the initial plans from being used. Then when crunch time came around he froze. Why? Because of an issue that was raised about an aquifer that supplies water to five states was right in the center of where the pipeline was planned to go. Naturally that raised concerns for the people in those states about potentially having their water contaminated. The solution seemed easy, use one of the backup plans to reroute the pipeline to bypass the aquifer, but, as I said before, Obama froze. He sat around for days trying to decide on what to do (I suspect that his teleprompters were on the fritz) because the environmentalists were raising hell about the apocalyptic ramifications for building this pipeline. Eventually he announced that he had made a decision… to not make a decision, at least not until after the 2012 election.

This is playing politics at the expense of everyone in the entire USA. There is no way to deny that.

Since Obama refused to act the Republicans in the House decided to force him to make a decision on the issue. They include a provision in the “Obama Tax Cut Extension Bill” (You can find my earlier post on that if you look) that required him to make a decision on the pipeline in order for his “Tax Cut” to be extended. They were generous and gave him till March to make a decision to either state building the pipeline within 6 months of his decision or to not build it. Obama chose not to build it, going against not only the Republicans, but even his own union base that were hopeful for the jobs and the money that came with them.

Now he is trying to blame HIS decision on the House Republicans for forcing his hand. Fact of the matter is no one can make you do anything. Obama chose this all on his own. Because of Obama decisions, Canada isn’t going to wait around for us to get with the program. They are going to sell their oil to the Chinese and Russians instead because they can’t afford to not do anything with it.

As I said before, this is playing politics at the expense of everyone in the entire USA. There is no way to deny that.

Obama keeps talking about how much he has helped and improved our economy since Bush messed it up. The simple fact is, if you look at the major factors that screwed our economy, you will find Obama’s name on most of them. Obama took the mistakes that Bush started and made them worse with his policies. Now, a recession that should have been relatively easy for us to climb out of is still slowly dragging us down, despite how much Obama wants us the think otherwise. It is kind of like the games he is playing with the unemployment numbers. He keeps claiming unemployment is going down and, according to the numbers he presents, it is. But the numbers he is flashing everywhere are extremely falsified. To get the true unemployment numbers you have to count not only the people currently getting unemployment, but also the people who can’t get it anymore because they either have given up on finding a job or have been on it for so long that they no longer qualify for it. The real unemployment numbers are closer to 18% instead of the 8.4% Obama is bragging about.

On top of preventing thousands of new jobs that will come with the pipeline, Obama has also added to the unemployment numbers by firing thousands of soldiers in the military with his plan to cut defense spending. In fact here is something interesting for you to go and research… Go and look up all the things that led to 9-11 happening. Look at all of the things that Clinton did that allowed 9-11 to happen. Everything that Clinton did, Obama is now trying to do. Why? Well that is material for another post, but it is something that you might find interesting. Now that I have successfully gotten off topic why don’t I try to get back on.

The whole point that I am trying to make with the Keystone Pipeline is that just like everything that Obama has done since he has taken office, his decision on it is harmful to our economy and our job market. The pipeline is just one in LONG list of screw ups that have harmed our nation as a whole and unlike the Bush screw ups, Obama’s screw ups are intentional. He is cold and calculating in what he is doing in an attempt to get us to give up and turn to someone to save us. He thinks that if he can get us to that point then he can swoop in and rescue us from ourselves by becoming Supreme Leader (sound familiar?) who knows all. I believe that this is Obama’s plan. Of course he initially thought that we would be at that point by the end of his first term, but he didn’t count on the intelligence of the American people as a whole. We need to stand against him in the ballot box and let our voices be heard, not only in the Presidential election, but the Congressional, Senate, State and local elections as well. We need to get rid of anyone who has supported Obama and his politics of destruction, then and only then will we begin to heal as a nation while becoming strong once again on the World Stage.

Of All The Starving Children

First off, this is a rant. Why because I can contain it no longer. There is a certain commercial that has been playing on the radio where I live now for about a year. I will not name the organization or its web address because I don’t want to promote them. This organizations commercials usually feature a pathetic sounding child (sometimes an adult but mostly children) talking about how they struggle with hunger. They quote some statistics then talk about how they were told they could grow up to be anything they want to. The ending line is literally “I want to grow up to be someone who doesn’t go to bed hungry at night”. Then an announcer starts talking about who you can donate money on their web site and that each dollar you donate provides seven, yes you heard right, seven meals.

Ok, let’s start with the statistics. In the commercial they claim that 1 in 4 children in America “Struggle with hunger”. How do they get that number? Doesn’t that seem a bit high? I have a theory about how they get that statistic (aside from the fact that, as anyone who has studied statistics would tell you, you can make statistics say whatever you want them to say) and I am going to share it with you now…

Time – 5:45pm Setting – Jessica (age 11) is on the phone in her home while her parent is busy cooking supper.

Caller: Hello little Jessica, how are you today?

Jessica: I am good, how are you?

Caller: I am doing well, thank you for asking. Jessica, I want to ask you a question and you can answer me honestly. Have you been hungry in the last week?

Jessica: I am hungry right now, but-

Caller: Thank you Jessica, That is all I need to know.

Jessica looks confused as the caller hangs up on her.

Maybe I am being mean or maybe not, but I really find the 1 in 4 hard to believe. I am not denying the fact that there are children that go hungry here in the USA but, the fact remains that we as a nation have the world’s fattest poor people. Now you don’t get fat (at least not the type of fat that we are) by going hungry… Unless… There is a statistic that says that 1 in 6 adults are morbidly obese… Hmmm… Couple that with the 1 in 4 children struggle with hunger… Eureka! I have got it! All the adults are eating the food for themselves instead of giving it to their children! Yes I know I am being ridiculous, but I am just expressing how ridiculous I feel these commercials to be. Like I said before, I know that there are children in America that go hungry and my heart goes out to them, really, but I think that this organization is a fraud.

Let’s look at the other huge problem I have with this ad, the line about every dollar you donate. If food was that cheap nobody in America would have to worry about penny pinching when it came to buying groceries. This line is just ridiculous. If they were really serious about feeding people, then they would be asking for non-perishable food items to fill food banks that they could then give out to families in need before asking for money. The fact that they only ask for money sends red flags up for me. I can understand the organization wanting money, after all you have to pay for a way to transport the food, store the food and pay the people to do all the work that comes with all that food. But the fact that they don’t want food, they just want money? It seems suspicious to me, just saying.

Now on to what I think is the true heart of the matter. If there are this many children in the USA “struggling with hunger” then why haven’t the states stepped in with DHR and removed those kids so that they can go somewhere that they will be fed? Also, what about the school systems? Children from “under privileged families” (I always hated that term, but that is a whole other rant) have programs where the get free breakfast and lunch at school on the taxpayers dollar. The schools in most places will even feed them when school is not in session. On top of that they are talking about implementing a program to cover supper as well. Guess the next thing to happen will be that the schools just let the children live there, call is a taxpayer funded boarding school.

Also, what about the communities that the hungry children live in? One of the things that used to make our country so great was the generous nature of the American citizen. What has happened to that? Once upon a time, if a community knew that it had a family that was suffering from hunger that was a part of that community, then the people came together and helped that family out as best as they could. Not everyone in that community could afford to help with money or food, but they could at least give time if nothing else.

What has happened to the generous nature we had as a nation? I personally blame the Government. The reason for this is that once the government started raising taxes so that it could step in and provide services like child welfare, WIC and food stamps, the people of the community saw two things happen. First they saw that they had less money with which to provide help to their neighbors in need. Second since the Government was handling the responsibilities of the community, they saw that there was no need for the community. This broke the communities and neighborhoods down to the point that the people in them started to ignore one another as well as the needs of those around them. I don’t mean to say that this applies everywhere or to everyone, but it does apply to more than not and to make matter worse, it is getting worse with each generation.

We as a nation, as a people, need to learn to come together once more and support those that are in need. We need to elect people into office who will have the guts to stand up and shut these programs down that have only served to make up more dependent upon the Government, then have the integrity to also lower taxes so that we the people will have the money that should rightfully be ours anyway. I am not saying that this is a change that needs to occur overnight, it needs to be done slowly so that the people of this nation have time to adjust back to where we came from. I believe that if that were to happen, we as a nation would learn once again what it means to be a community which will in turn make us stronger.

Welcome to Dictatorship

You know what really disturbs me about this election year? Well, several things do, but I will try to approach them one at a time. As I have mentioned on my previous post, I feel that we the American people, are getting shafted no matter who wins the Presidential election this year. On one hand we have a President who is trying to become a Dictator and on the other hand we have 5 fools who are ripping each other to shreds in order to become top dog so that they can then take on said Dictator President.

Why am I calling Obama a Dictator? Well, simple fact is that he has placed himself in a dictorial role in the last year and wants to strengthen that roll to give himself absolute power that he thinks he naturally should have as President. But how do I know that is what he thinks or wants? Honestly, I don’t, but given his past actions and some of the things that he has said recently, I challenge you to say I am wrong with a straight face. Listen to some of the things Obama has said in some of the speeches he has given recently. No really, go listen to them right now, I’ll wait. You back? Good. Now tell me with a serious face that Obama doesn’t want to be a Dictator went he said that it was his duty to bypass Congress when Congress failed to act as he wanted them to act. I believe, and I may be a little off on this, but I believe his exact words were “If Congress fails to act as they need to, then it is my duty as President of the United States to use my authority to dictate through executive order what needs to be done.” Like I said, I may be remembering that wrong, but I do know for a fact that if I am not remembering the exact wording correctly, then at least the exact nature of what he said is there.

As disturbing as it is that we have a President that has gone power mad and breaking the law constantly, that is not the most disturbing thing, nor is the fact that no one in Congress will step up and file a motion for impeachment against this despicable excuse for a President. No, the most disturbing thing about this whole thing in regards to Obama is what I call the “Obamites” or sometimes I call them “Obamies” (Obamies = Obama zombies). During Obama’s first Presidential election, these were the idiots that sat there moaning out the “Yes we can” chant which reminded me of either zombies or cultists as that are only capable of thinking what their master (Obama) tells them. These Obamites are eating Obamas words up when he goes on about how he is going to do what it takes to pass his agenda even if it means throwing the Constitution and all the laws of the land out the window. These idiots were actually cheering him on and encouraging him to go even further then he has so far. These dunderheads want to be ruled with an iron fist as long as it means that they won’t ever have to think for themselves. And yes, the Occupy idiots as a whole fall into this category too, I will explain that in a later post when I can find their “list of demands” (yes, like what hostage takers have).

On top of all the stupidity I have mentioned so far surrounding Obama, to make matters worse; we have the Republican field of candidates that are destroying each other for the chance to then have what is left of them destroyed by someone who, by all rights should be imprisoned, should not even have a chance to win the Presidential election because of how badly he screwed up during his first term. The one person who I think had the best chance of beating Obama got ran out of the race due to his opponents and the liberal media trying to remove him due to the fact that he was clearly the best choice. Yes, I am talking about Herman Cain. The man had to quite due to all of the deceitful attacks against him from both sides because he was the biggest threat. How do I know that the attacks, or if you prefer, sexual allegations against him were false? Simple. That fact that once Mr. Cain announced that he was suspending his campaign, all the women accusing him vanished from the limelight. Now what are we left with? Five bickering fools who all think that they have a chance against Obama when they are doing all of his dirty work for him in the primaries.

To be fair, they do have a chance to beat Obama, an idiot who is brain dead from huffing too many fumes would have a chance at beating Obama, that is how bad he screwed up in his first term. If you are listening Barack, that is what governing against the will of the people gets you. But the fact still remains that by the time one of them gets to Obama, they will have bloodied and bruised themselves so bad that they won’t stand a chance. What the Republicans should have done is focus on how they as individual candidates compare to Obama then let the people chose which one they think is the best candidate to go against the Dictator. Instead, they try to go after each other while going after Obama. Idiots.

I hope we will one day be able to restore this great nation back to its former glory but as long as this kind of idiocy is allowed to continue, nothing will change for the better and we will keep tracking toward destruction.

The Song Was Sung By The Fat Lady

I hate to be the one to bear bad news but I feel it necessary now. One of the things that I feared would happen has happened. As such, I am now calling the Presidential election. I know, I know, you are thinking that is too early to call, but trust me when I say, no it isn’t. No matter who wins the election at this point, none of them will be any better than what we already have in office, Barack Obama. The real losers this election year are the American people, plain and simple. With Michelle Bachmann dropping out there are no more real fiscal conservatives left in the running with the exception of the one person who terrifies me the most due to his global and social policies, Ron Paul. In case you are wondering what exactly I mean, I am talking about the few choices that we have left in the Republican field.

First, there is Mitt Romney. If Obama had a magic mirror that would show what he would be like if he were white instead of mixed, the reflection would show Mitt Romney. “What do you mean by that?” you are probably asking yourself. Am I making a statement about the fact that Obama is a “black” man? No. I am just saying that the only difference between the two is as superficial as skin color. As much as Mitt tries to talk about how wrong Obama is and how bad his policies have been, he can never get away from the fact that everything he has stood for in the past mirrors Obama and his policies. Since that is the case, if Mitt gets elected to run against Obama, we will have a choice of Barak Obama the second term vs. Mitt Romney, Obama 2.0.

Second, there is Newt Gingrich. This little man is so twisted in his political views that half the time he is staring up his own ass. Newt doesn’t know which way he is coming or going from, nor does her care. He is going to keep barreling ahead, even if it means that he ends up with his head in his ass. He calls himself a fiscal conservative but his record sings a different tune. The man is a fan of big government and is of the opinion that government is there to help the people through increasing regulation and restrictions of freedoms.

Third, there is Rick Santorum. This man like a spinning coin, he spins round and round. You never know which way he is going to land till he lands and then you are not sure that you like the side he lands on, but that’s ok, he’ll just spin a little more till he thinks that you are happy. His policies are designed to fit whomever he is directing them toward in his lackluster fashion and he will never commit to one thing or the other out of fear of offending someone, somewhere.

Forth, there is John Huntsman. Do you know who John Huntsman is? No? Don’t feel too bad, most people don’t know him either. Moving on.

Fifth, there is Rick Perry. Ahhh, Rick Perry, lovable huggable Texan, Rick Perry… You know what? I am not even going to get started on him. He is not worth the waste of space it would be to talk about. Moving on.

Last but not least, there is Ron Paul. Where to start with Ron Paul… Oh, I know let’s start with the good. Ron Paul is the only true fiscal conservative in the running. He believes in cutting taxes as well as cutting a lot of the unnecessary and wasteful spending that goes on in Washington. He even has the record to back up his claims of being a fiscal conservative and nobody can really dispute that fact. Unfortunately, that is where the good ends. On social policies, Ron Paul is a flipping nut job. He believes that ALL drugs should be legalized and in general promotes anarchy with the rest of his social policies since he believes that ALL government regulation and control is wrong and harmful to the people enslaved by said regulation and control. On his global policies he believes that every country should stay out of every other countries business, therefor we should let all the other nations of the world do whatever they want no matter of the potential treat it could pose to us. This wouldn’t be a problem if every nation in the world was content on leaving each other alone, but sadly that is not the way things work. There are real threats to the US out there that have to be addressed or else they will become a major problem. Look at Iran, China, North Korea and Russia. Do you honestly think that they are content to sit by and not try to bully the other nations of the world around? No, they want to be top dog and everyone with half a brain knows it. Ron Paul is insane if he thinks the world would ever function the way he seems to think it should.

But, despite the sour and pessimistic note I started this post on there is actually hope. Something to strive for since the Presidency is lost. We all need to work hard to get fiscal conservatives that have some backbone (unlike John Boehner) who are not afraid to stand up to not only the Dems, but the establishment Republicans who are content with the status quoi. We need to fill the House and Senate with people who truly want to see this great nation rise up once again and become the light of freedom for all the world that we once were. We need to elect people who will stand on principle and not back down because this poll or that poll says that they should. On top of that we need to elect enough of them to get a veto proof majority so that no matter which one of these 7 losers (count Obama) gets elected into the office of President, they can’t screw up this nation any worse. I know that electing enough to have a veto proof majority is tough. It’s a lot harder than focusing on the Presidency alone but we are left with no choice.

We no longer have Herman Cain or Michelle Bachmann to look too as the next Presidental hopefull. As I said before, all the options that we have left are no better than what we have now. We are at a crossroads with this election and I’m afraid that we may have already committed to a path that we can no longer divert from. We have already lost the Presidency, let’s not lose anything else and maybe we will have the chance to turn this boat around and get back on the right course.

Social Security Relief... Tax Cut or Investment Cut?

I know that this is a little late but, this has been bugging me all of the Christmas holiday so I am going to address it now. For those of you who do not know, Speaker Boehner caved in to the Senates demands that the House pass their 2 month extension of the Obama “tax cut”. Speaker Boehner had been standing strong (or so it appeared) against the 2 month extension in order to get a 1 year extension instead. This would be good for businesses because a tax that only lasts for 2 months guaranteed is hell on them when it comes to doing payroll, where as a 1 year guarantee will insure that the businesses will not have any surprises during the fiscal year to throw them off in accounting. But I get ahead of myself; let me start with telling you about this “tax cut”.

The “tax cut” that Obama and Reed (as well as the majority of the Dems) have been bitching about is not really a tax cut at all… that is unless they are now admitting that Social Security is a tax. Up until recently the Dems have always sold SS as an investment into your future for when you retire. You pay into the system then when you reach a certain age; you get the return on the money you put in. This would work fine if it were executed the way that it was originally intended to be executed, but instead of the money sitting there waiting for you to claim it, the Federal Government spends it in ways that it was not meant to be spent. The fact of the matter is; the money that we as tax paying citizens put into the system is already claimed by someone or something (other programs that are deemed important) else instead of staying put for the rightful owners (the people who are paying in.. aka us) to claim at a later date.

I, myself have said for years that this makes SS a tax as opposed to an investment and the fact that money gets given to other people rather than the ones that put it there. By this I mean the people who are currently putting the money there, I know the people who invested in the years long gone are now getting paid for what they put in, but the simple fact is, the money they are getting is our money not theirs… theirs got wasted years ago. I know it sounds cruel to talk about it like that but the simple fact is once we get to the point to where we are supposed to get our return on out SS investment, we will be the ones leeching off of the current generation that is paying in. That is if SS can last long enough for us to even see a return on our “investment”. This is one reason I supported George W. Bush’s push to allow people to invest the money that would have gone to SS in stocks instead, there would be a better chance for us to see an actual return on our money. But once again, I am getting off topic. Fact of the matter is, the only way that Obama and the Dems can claim what that the “tax cut” that they were pushing for is just that… a tax cut, is to say that SS is a tax which is something that they have vehemently denied for decades.

Now on to what this “tax cut”. What the Dems want to do is provide an extension for the current “Social Security Tax Holiday” which reduces the amount of SS that is cut from your check when taxes (and your “investment”) are taken out. The Dems did this to make it look like they could be tax cutters like the Republicans were under George W. Bush. But the reality of the situation is this… the money that they have cut from being withdrawn goes into the SS system which is already being strained because of wasteful spending and a lack of planning ahead. Because we are now putting less money in the system that means that when it comes time for us to get out return (once again to remind you… if SS is still around at that point, which would be a miracle) there will be even less money there for our twilight years because we put less in then we should have. On top of that, the people who are currently receiving our money (because their money has been wasted) have less money to pull from because of the decreased revenue, therefor the Federal Government has to borrow the remaining amount that SS is supposed to cover from other countries or the Fed (but that is a whole other topic all together).

So in light of all this information you are probably wondering why the Republicans are even wanting to push for an extension on this “tax cut” period. The answer is simple really; they don’t want to look like the party that caused people to have less take home money on their paychecks going into an election year. It would make them look like they have compromised their principles by “raising taxes” on hard working Americans. Of course this isn’t true, but we are talking about politics here, are you really surprised? So it that is the reason that they are for the extension then why are they pushing to make it last a year? Because as I mentioned before, only extending it for two months puts an unnecessary burden on employers, making them have to spend more time and money when calculating the numbers to pay their employees. At least with a one year extension, while not good for everyone as a whole, it would help the people who create jobs which would hopefully encourage them to create more jobs since they would have more money because the taxes would be simpler.

So why did Speaker Boehner cave then and give the Dems the two month extension instead of holding out for the one year extension like he said he would? I don’t know. I know that part of that deal was an agreement that they would come back in January and begin talks about a one year extension again, but if he is going to let the Dems push him around like that, then when they go to talk about them again things won’t go as he hopes. He has placed himself in the weaker position because now the Dems know that all they have to do is lean on him a little and he will fold… This isn’t this first time Boehner has demonstrated this lack of spine either which only encourages the Dems further. I am sick of the lackluster leadership that the Republican Party has had in the last few years. It is time for someone who had the guts to stand up for the good of our nation, not the good of their political career. Yes that means looking like the bad guy (or girl) from time to time, but something has got to change, otherwise we will become a reflection of Europe and I don’t know if you have paid any attention to what is going on over there at the moment, but it is not pretty. We need to remove Speaker Boehner and replace him with someone who has a spine and will stand for conservative principles. If we don’t do that, nothing will change any time soon.

Hello to all the people who actually take the time to read my blathering commentary about the current political atmosphere. I know I have not posted anything since October, so I thought I should tell you all why.

In November, I participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and as it was such, I wrote a novel (Novel in this case is defined as 50,000 words of more). I was able to complete my novel in by November the 25^th and because of the stress of writing that much that fast, I decided to take some time off from writing afterward. I am not a professional writer, nor have I ever taken any writing classes, so the novel was an attempt to see if I could do it and if I enjoyed it. Turns out I enjoyed it quite a bit, plus I think the novel isn’t half bad.

Since that is the case once December rolled around I started the editing process on my novel. So far I am about three quarters of the way through the first edit. I have added about 2,000 words to the original body of work as well as correcting a lot of the grammar mistakes I have made in the initial writing of the story. My ultimate goal by the time I finish all of the editing for the book is to have between 70,000 and 100,000 words. I don’t know how to accomplish this, but hey, I will let the story go where the story goes.

I will be back to the blogging about politics soon, but I really feel the need to keep my focus on this book for the moment. Lord knows I am missing out on a LOT of material that the lefties are giving me to talk about that, but with the novel I just haven’t had time to do all the research I need to do in order to make sure that you, my faithful readers, are well informed.

If any of you readers out there are curious about the book, I am going to post some information about it on my other blog “Musings of a Mad Poet”. This is a blog I initially started as a place to challenge myself with poetry exercises but that has initially gone by the wayside because I got to the point that I didn’t want to post any more poetry. For a while I have been wondering what to do with that blog but now I think I have a use for it again. I plan on keeping people who are interested in my book up to date on it through that blog. I will still use it for its original purpose from time to time, but mostly it will be dedicated to my nonpolitical writings. I may even change its name to something catchy like “Excessively Boring Drivel That Will Make Your Eyes Bleed” though I doubt it.

Anyways, back to the point… I am still here, nothing has happened to me, just been busy. Maybe as my writing improves I will be able to reach a point to where I can handle both me political and nonpolitical writings simultaneously. Check back at least once a week here, I am going to try to have some new stuff up by mid-January at the latest, though I hope to have it much earlier.

"We Are the 99%"... Misinformed

The “Occupy” people ( I say Occupy people instead of Occupy Wall Street people because it is no longer restricted to Wall Street) claim they are the 99%, that capitalism doesn't work for them, it only works for the top 1%. That is one of their claims. They are gravely misled, capitalism works for anyone in America who has the gumption and drive to succeed. For capitalism to work you have to be willing to get off your ass and take a risk that in the end turns into a profit (financial, emotional, or both) for you.

The problem with the Occupy people seems to be that they want others to do for them instead of doing for themselves. This alone makes them less then 99% it makes them more like the bottom 50% (you know, the ones that look to the government to provide for them instead of trying to earn a living) who want to drag other down to their level. They have no respect for hard working Americans who are trying to make a living in this tough economy, instead they try to rile them up into a frenzy by asking questions like “Are you ok with the fact that you probably paid more in taxes last year than corporations, yes or no?” Lets analyze this question for a second.

First, this question is a misleading question, it interjects the assumption that first, most people are paying more in taxes then the “Evil Corporations” This is not true. The question is meant to play on the emotions of the individual asked in order to make them have a negative view of corporations. After all, ARE YOU OK with this horrible situation? Don't you think you should be angry about it? The situation is not being thrust upon you, this question just assumes that you are a faceless victim and then it thrusts this perceived situation upon you, never giving you a chance to counter the claim. It is designed make the person who was asked assume that these evil corporations have been weaseling their way out of paying taxes, leaving the rest of us (Americans) to pick up the burden. The fact of the matter is most Americans (51%) pay no taxes at all with the exception of sales tax, and even then there are some that avoid that as well. The average working American actually falls into the 35% that only pay 25% of this nations taxes. The top 1% that the Occupy people are attacking pay 45% of the taxes, almost half of US tax revenue. The remaining 13% pay the remaining 30%.

Secondly, the question is ended in such a way to make it a yes or no question. This is not a yes or no question because everyone's financial situation differs and I can promise you, the Occupy people more then likely pay a lot less in taxes then corporations. The question is designed to guide the person asked into thinking about it on simplistic yes or no terms, throwing logic and reason out the window, thus making the person asked more malleable to the Occupy logic or lack there of. Once they have the hook set they can start feeding more misinformation to the individual asked in order to recruit them to the cause.

In asking idiotically misleading questions like this, the Occupy people look to bring emotionally charged people (useful idiots if you will) into their fold where they can keep feeding them lies in order to make them angrier. This will eventually lead to a mob mentality. When you think about it, that will be ideal for the Occupy people, because ultimately every mob needs someone to direct them in order to make them as effective for the Occupy movement.

These people think that they are the core of the Occupy movement, but they don't realize that they are carefully getting worked into a mob, instead it is the people who are masterfully directing these useful idiots that are the real core. These Occupy protesters don't even realize that the masterminds behind this movement are actually some of the people that fall into the 1% (like George Soros) that they claim to hate. Fact of the matter is, if the masterminds behind this movement succeed in what they are trying to bring about, it will drive the people they are using (the protesters) into the ground, giving them a platform to snatch up the power that they think should be theirs.

If you are one of the people who finds themselves getting sucked into the Occupy Movement, be careful. If it continues at the rate that it is growing we will start to see rioting start soon from these Occupy groups. Get out before it comes to this, once we hit the stage where rioting starts it will be too late to get out. The Occupy Movement is getting close to that point, they are already displaying images of bankers and CEOs being hung as well as displaying the likeness of CEOs heads on pikes. It is only a matter of time before these people turn to full blown violence. Get out while you can, please!

I'm going to build upon these and other thoughts in future posts so sorry if this one seemed rushed, I just don't have time to put all my thoughts down for you. I will leave you with one last thought to consider, Remember, they are calling for REVOLUTION not reform, that alone should be call for alarm.

"Old McDonald Had an Illegal Alien" (And Other Great Hits Like "Illegal Aliens Fell on Alabama")

Alabama's new illegal immigration law came under a lot of fire before it was implemented, as many lies and distortions were told about the law by liberal groups and media in order to make the Hispanic populace scared. Once the law finally got implemented the earth shattering consequences that were predicted simply did not occur, but the cries of indignation remain, fueled by half truths and lies told about the aftermath if the implementation of the law. I hope to clear some of these things up for you.

First I want to address the people who claim that this law is a racist blow to discriminate against the Hispanic population of Alabama. This is a distortion of the law. The law never singles out Hispanics, in fact it worded to prevent officers from discriminating against anyone based off of their race. How can the law be racist if it designed to protect against racism? On top of that, why do the people who state this automatically assume it is targeting Hispanics? Do they believe all Hispanics are illegal? Going with that line of thinking, do they think all non-Hispanics are legal? Don't they realize that people how are not of Hispanic decent can be here illegally too? After all, there are more countries out there besides America and Mexico. Case in point, the first person to get detained because of this law wasn't Hispanic, he was from Yemen.

That brings me to my second point. The story that the liberal news media is trying to spin on the illegal immigration law in order to make it look like an utter failure actually assures that the law is working as intended. The previously mentioned story is about three men from Yemen who were arrested on drug related charges. One of them had a drivers license, he was released after making bail, the second had a work visa, he was released after making bail, the third had no form of identification and could not state his drivers license number or social security number, he was detained until his lawyer could prove he was here legally. The liberal news media wants you to think that the police just picked this poor man (the third one) up because he looked like he wasn't a citizen. No they picked him up because he was messing with illegal substances and then was detained because he could not prove he was here legally. He was NOT Hispanic, nor, if you see any pictures of him, does he look Hispanic, that throws the theory that it is a racist law that targets Hispanics out the window.

The law is designed to protect Alabama citizens from criminals, plain and simple. I, for one, have no problem with criminals having it a little tougher. As for those of you who think that illegal aliens (or as the Obama regime wants to call them, undocumented workers) are not criminals, put the crack pipe down and listen up. Illegal aliens come to the USA through ILLEGAL means, meaning, THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW. I know some of you bleeding hearts out there take offense to that, but it is true. “Well, they're just coming here because they want to work to provide for their families in Mexico,” is what some of you are saying right now. Yes, that is the reason some of them come over here, but you know what? That doesn't make it any less illegal, they are still breaking the law. The USA has plenty of guest worker programs that the Mexican citizens can take advantage of in order to come here LEGALLY and work. As for you who are asking “Well, what about the ones here seeking asylum? Hmm? What about them?” Once again, there are legal ways for people seeking asylum, to come here for protection that don't involve breaking the law.

Now to my third point, and this is the one I find myself getting the angriest about. Alabama farmers have stated that this law has dried up the workforce that they relied on for harvesting their crops. They claim that they can't get any non illegals to come work for them, stating that Alabamians refuse to do that kind of physical labor. I don't know about you, but if I was hurting for work (and Alabamians are at the moment with ten percent unemployment) I believe I would jump at the chance to earn some money. If Alabamians are truly refusing to do this kind of work to earn an honest days wage, then that right there says something about the unemployment system not doing it's job right, (but that is a discussion for another time) and we really need to reform it so people stop wanting to settle for unemployment. In fact, some of the local radio stations that have been interviewing these farmers have offered to let them advertise, free of charge, that they need work and where the people who want it need to go and who they need to call. The farmers every time have refused to give out that information so that Alabamians who want to work have no way to contact them for work. Am I the only one that sees the problem there? That, though, isn't that part that makes me mad.

What makes me mad about the claims of these farmers is some of the thing they are saying when talking about how this law has screwed them. I'm not saying all of them have said this but a fair number of times I have heard this said (yes this is a quote), “Them brown skinned folks is the only ones that will come out here and do this kinda work. Colored folks and white folks won't stoop to doing this kinda back breaking work. After all, them brown skinned folks is built for it, they are made to work out in the heat and the sun.” Not all the farmers have said exactly that (but the nature of what is said is the same) but that it the latest I have heard with my own ears, which is why I quoted it. Am I the only one this kind of speech ticks off? How dare they refer to these people like they are live stock! Both Illegal and legal Hispanics are not live stock! This kind of speech churns my stomach, it is disgusting, reprehensible, hateful, and extremely offensive. The last time speech like this was said about a people based off their skin color was back when plantation owners were told they could no longer use slave labor. Is that what we have come to think of these people who come here looking for work as? Slave labor? NO, if they come here illegally they may be criminals, but they are NOT slaves!

The plantation owners had to change their business model when they could no longer use slave labor, the ones that didn't throw up their hands in defeat survived and were able to continue earning a profit thru legal means. The farmers here in Alabama need to do the same, adjust their business models and they will see their business survive. Those who refuse to change will see their business crumble and fall, that is the simple truth to it. They can succeed by hiring legal citizens who want and need the work, they just have to try.

The Occupy Wall Street Zombies Drink Kool-Aid, Not Tea!

I am so sick of people comparing the “Occupy Wall Street” movement to the Tea Party. This is a complete misrepresentation. The two movements have nothing really in common. The Tea Party stands for upholding the principles that this nation was built upon, once again relying on the Constitution to lead us as it is written, not the twisted interpretations that politicians have come up with to promote their own agendas. The Occupy Wall Street movement is all about destroying the current system in order to create an environment of chaos, in which they can rebuild the financial structure to a socialist utopia model that has been tried in Europe multiple times, failing every time, driving those nations into chaos in the process.

The Occupy Wall Street movement is a destructive force that is building on the left, much like the Tea Party was a constructive force building on the right. The Occupy Wall Street movement is attempting to place themselves into the same position as the Tea Party except they are going about it in a completely different fashion. The are using lies and deceit to try to affect the emotions of the ignorant to cause them to rise up against against the financial systems of the US. They are backed by groups that have been known to have malicious intent against the US government including Anonymous.

If you need proof of this I present a transcript of the promise of attack posted today by Anonymous ….

Anonymous has once again proven their dedication to anarchy thru terrorism in order to harm innocents who are hard working individuals trying to make a living the best they can. They claim, like the Occupy Wall Street movement, that this is the will of the people and for the good of the people. How is terrorism and chaos good for the people? All that does is creates an atmosphere where might will make right, in this case might being money. Don't these idiots realize that the people with the money are the ones they are claiming are the problem? By taking the steps that Anonymous and the Occupy Wall Street movement are taking, they are setting it up to put the people (George Soros for example) they claim to hate into stronger positions of power. In fact I personally believe that the people that will benefit (see the prior sentence) are the ones behind stirring the pot of ignorance that has led to this.

The Tea Party on the other hand has taken steps to educate anyone that is willing to learn about the principals that this nation was built upon. Thru doing that they hope to raise awareness of the corruption and abuse of power in Washington. They believe that thru proper and truthful knowledge the people will gain the knowledge to elect people into office that will enact change that is sorely needed to bring back honor and integrity to our government. It also encourages non-politicians to get involved in politics in order to bring about the changes that our government sorely needs. It also encourages dissenting views in order to encourage intelligent debate on the issues in order to guide our nation to the prosperity that we once had.

The Occupy Wall Street movement, hand in hand with Anonymous, is attempting to remake America through promotion of ignorance and terrorism, whereas the Tea Party is attempting to steer America back to it foundations and principles through promotion of knowledge and education. There are hard times coming. Which side will you stand with?

"I Wish That They Would Just DIE!!!"

I have seen a disturbing trend in liberal people recently, it has to do with the way they treat conservative female politicians. Mainly I'm referring to Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin. I don't know where this express hatred for those women comes from but I have heard numerous liberals calling them offensive names (I would list all of them but some of the less offensive ones are names such as bitch, whore and slut. You can use your imagination for the more offensive names) and saying that they wish they would die.

You would think it would only be men talking like this, but the fact of the matter is, it seems to be more women then men saying these offensive things. Furthermore, the women who are saying these things are the ones that belong to women's and feminist groups. You would think that, if anybody were going to stand up against the name calling it would be the people in these groups, yet they seem to encourage it. Why?

I don't hear any conservative groups talking about any women, conservative or liberal like that. Is it possible that these liberals (and by liberals I am referring to all, politicians and everyday people), despite all their talk about civility and toning things down can't take their own advice? That is what it seems like to me. I, personally, have never heard a true conservative (and just so you know I am not talking about politicians as well as the working people who are true conservatives) say any of this hate filled deconstructive rhetoric.

If I, or any other conservative out there were to call Nancy Pelosi a “stupid little whore” that needs to “shut the hell up and die for the good of the country” we would be vilified and told that we are the reason for all the decision in America. Likewise, (going to touch a little on racism now mainly because I have heard these things said about Herman Cain, even though it is slightly off topic) if I, or any other conservative, were to call Maxine Waters an “Uncle Tom” along with the “stupid little whore” and “shut the hell up and die for the good of the country” comments we would be accused of trying to incite lynching and branded a racist.

When are the liberals that are good people actually going to stand up against this kind of speech? Are they ok with it because it is being said about people that they disagree with? If so than they need to look at themselves and the ideals they claim to stand for. They will see how hypocritical they are being.

I, and a lot of the conservatives I know, disagree with Barack Obama (I know still off topic, but I feel he is a bit more of a predominate figure to use as an example). We don't want him to die. We just want to get him voted out. It is nothing personal against the man, we just think his policies are bad for the country and are bring us down, much like Bush did in the last 2 years he was in office. We aren't going to go around and call him “crack whore” just because he smoked crack at one point in his life (which he did, he admitted it proudly) and we disagree with him.

We aren't going to start calling Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, or any other female liberal any of the names that we hear them calling conservative women. Why? Because, despite the fact that we disagree with them, we still respect them as human beings. Despite all they say that we feel is one hundred percent off target, we still respect their right to have an opinion. Doesn't mean they are right, doesn't mean we are right, but at least we admit they have the right to formulate their own opinion regardless of whether or not we agree with it.

Just because Michelle Bachmann thinks that an unborn child has the right to live or believes that homosexuals make a choice to be gay due to traumatic experiences in their life, doesn't mean you have to agree with her. But to wish her dead because she believes those things? That is ridiculous.

As for Sarah Palin, she isn't even running for office, why are you libs so threatened by her? Is it because she challenges your world view? You constantly bash the woman left and right trying to make her shut up, but all you are doing is making more people take note of her message.

And as for all you women's and feminist groups out there that stand idly by watching these women get attacked and threatened, shame on you! As for the ones participating in the attacks, maybe you should go back and look at what you claim to stand for. You both allow people to denigrate women everywhere by letting these words go unchallenged. You are saying to all women that they are only allowed to have an opinion that fits your world view (which interestingly enough was formed by men) and if they dare to think anything otherwise then they are less then. You shouldn't be punishing women to think for themselves, you should be encouraging it and lifting women up that think outside the box that has been placed for them to think in.

How to Deal With Cancer, or, Time To Start Cutting

Due to the recent folding of the majority of our Republican House and Senate members on the Debt Limit Deal, the recent attacks (verbal) on the patriotic Americans that call themselves the Tea Party, and the nations first ever credit downgrade, I have decided to write this.

The Tea Party has supported the ideas of a fiscally responsible nation throughout it's short existence. These ideas haven't been the most popular with most Democrats, even the ones that claim they are working toward getting us fiscally responsible. The one thing these Dems keep insisting that we need to do to bring ourselves to fiscal responsibility is raise taxes on the wealthy. They don't seem to see the fact that such action will harm the job producers in this country, this in turn will put more people out of work, something we don't need when we such a high unemployment (9.1% of eligible workers are currently filing for unemployment, if you look at the percentage that have stopped trying in to that number you get something more like 18%).

Now, before I go any further, let me clear one thing up so not to confuse you. When I refer to the Tea Party I am not necessarily referring to the Republican party. The Tea Party is comprised of Fiscal Conservatives who want to curb spending for the good of the nation. The Republican party has members of the Tea Party within their ranks, but the Republican party itself does not represent the Tea Party most of the time, in fact it seems like they are fighting against the Tea Party because they are afraid of losing power to the whims of the people. They should be working with the Tea Party instead of against them considering that they both are supposed to be standing same ideals.

The Republicans though are afraid of the Tea Part movement due to the fact that they are now being held under a microscope by the people that they claim to represent, making it much harder for them to get away with all the self serving policies they were passing. They are so afraid of the Tea Party holding them accountable that they have begun to join the Dems in demonizing the Tea Party in an effort to push them out of the picture so that they don't have to worry about their positions.

The Tea Party (the people, not just the politicians) realizes that taxes are just going to hurt us and that the real path to fiscal responsibility is to curb the spending that has become so prevalent as time has passed. They realized that someone had to take a stand in order to stop the wasteful spending in Washington DC and since it appeared no one in Washington DC would step up to plate, they stood up and elected people that stood for what they believed. These individuals have stood up to the Dems, the Republicans, and even Obama, fighting to cut spending and get our deficit under control.

In the recent battle over the debt-ceiling, they stood strong and were even able to provide a backbone for the Republicans that normally would have folded immediately. S&P warned the nation that if it didn't get serious about cutting our spending it would be forced to downgrade us from a AAA to a AA+ rating, meaning that the value of our dollar would drop even more and our interest rates would jump (I know the fed came out later and said it would not raise interest rates, but that is really a sham, will explain later). Unfortunately, the Tea Party candidates just weren't able to support the weight of the entire Republican party and, due to mounting pressure from the Dems and the far left, most of the Republicans caved in the end, leaving the Tea Party high and dry. As a result, the debt-ceiling was raised and our spending cuts were left to the whim of 6 Dems and 6 Republicans (All of whom I honestly think won't do a damn thing) who, if they can't reach a consensus, will cause automatic spending cuts to go into affect (mainly on the military). This method of making cuts (Oh, they can also raise taxes if they deem, just thought I would mention that) is bad for the country and bypasses the ways set up by the Constitution for controlling our spending.

On top of that, S&P, true to their word downgraded us, this sent the Wallstreet into a major downturn, losing all of the gains made in the year over a few short days. The Fed, as a response said it wouldn't raise interest rates, instead it would leave them where they were at till 2013, just long enough for another administration to deal with unless (heaven forbid) Obama wins his reelection bid in 2012. If that happens, then the Obama administration can continue it's destructive policies unhindered.

Now, because of all the misfortune brought on due to the insanity of the Dems policies of keep doing the same thing and hope for a different outcome, and due to the Republicans proving once again that they have no spine (even when one is provided via the Tea Party they slither off it so they can fold under pressure), we are in an even bigger mess then before.

Who do you think both the Republicans and the Dems are blaming all this on? The Tea Party.

Just like the Obama administration has done throughout it's entire time in power, the Dems and the Republicans have decided to try to pull the wool over the eyes of everyone by blaming their new scapegoat, the Tea Party. This behavior is expected of the Dems (sadly enough), but the Republicans jumping on the bandwagon with the Dems is downright reprehensible. They are attacking the people who have stood up for them, backed them against the assault of the Liberal machine, and voted for them so that they could do the right thing and balance the power in Washington. The fact that they would turn their backs on the people who put them where they are is disgusting.

Now to be fair, there are still some Republican that still stand with the Tea Party even though they were not Tea Party candidates and those have done this nation proud by standing on principal. These party members have shown real courage standing up to their colleagues and will have the full backing of the Tea Party in the election cycle that is coming up (my opinion, not fact). The rest of the Republican party though has proven itself to be unreliable and in need of removal.

We need to cut these Senate and House members like the cancerous growths that they are and cut them out for good, then we need to make sure that we replace them with people who will stand up for the ideals of the Tea Party. Until we replace every last Republican that voted for this disaster, we will continue to go down the path of destruction that we are on. We need people who are willing to stand up and stand strong in the face of the demagoguery that will be thrown at them. We need men and women of principle. We need to save America.

Why are the Republicans always accused of being the “Party of No”? Can anyone tell me?

I personally think most people hear them being called the “Party of No” and associate the Republicans with not wanting to work together with Dems to pass any legislation. While it does seem like that is the case due to the spin that Democrats are so good at presenting, that isn't the case. Take the whole debt-ceiling fiasco that is currently going on, the Republicans have presented and passed multiple plans (all while being accused by the Dems of not doing anything). Meanwhile the Dems in the the Senate (even the White House) keep insisting that that anything the Republicans in the House passes, they (the Dems) will not even allow it to come to the floor to be looked at. How are any bills supposed to get passed when half the people involved in the process (the Senate Dems) refuse to even look at any of the plans the Republicans have passed?

The really sad thing about how this process usually goes is, each time the Senate refuses to look at these bills that have been passed by the House, the House then turns around and writes up another plan that is a gutted version of the previous bill. The newly gutted bill passes the House, then goes to the Senate where they won't look at it yet again. I think the Dems plan is to just keep rejecting House bills till the House sends them a blank page. So far who sounds like the “Party of No”?

All the while, the Democrats are constantly accusing the Republicans of not wanting to compromise and blaming them of being an obstacle that is preventing anything from passing. The thing that makes this even more absurd is, while they are blaming and spreading demagoguery, they refuse to present any ideas in writing. They work only towards making the Republicans look like villains when in truth the Republicans are the only ones working toward solutions.

The big problem with the Republican party is that in the past when the Dems have used this tactic, it has always worked in getting the Republicans to give in and agree to anything the Democrats want. The Dems even get the Republicans to draw up all the paperwork on it once they give in so that the Dems can come back behind them, copy it and claim that they are the ones who got it done. This definitely made the Republicans the “Party of No”, or as I think of it, the “Party of No Spine”.

Now with the current debt-ceiling debacle, the Democrats are lost once again on what to do so they look to the Republican party for ideas all while blaming the Republicans of doing nothing. Yet this time something is different. Yes, the Republicans have caved little by little on the one-sided (because the Dems are still refusing to do anything) debt-ceiling debate, there are new members in the Republican party that are from the Tea Party crowd. They appear to have at least given the Republican party a partial spine. For once the Republicans seem to be standing firm, refusing to give in anymore past the point that they have (sadly) been whittled down to. While I disagree with how much they have given up due to the Dems tactics, at least they seem to have stopped caving on their principals for the moment.

The Republicans are finally standing up and saying “No”. No new taxes. No new spending. No promised future cuts to the budget that will never come. No allowing the Dems (Obama) to rule against the will of the people.

Lets hope they stick to their guns and stand proud as the “Party of No”

The Debt-Ceiling Bonanza or Power to the 14th

Let me start by citing the part of the 14^th Amendment that I am going to be referencing in this post.

Section 4 of the 14^th Amendment states:

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

The reason I started with this is due to the fact that the White House is gearing up for an attempt to bypass Congress, citing this section of the 14^th Amendment, saying that no matter what we cannot default on our debt. They will say that, due to Section 4, if Congress refuses to raise the debt-ceiling (they may even argue the debt-ceiling is illegal due to Section 4's wording) then the President, as a last hope to prevent default, can raise the debt-ceiling with an executive order. This is one hundred percent untrue.

Nowhere in the Constitution is authority given to the President to...

Make laws in order to pay the debt of which the nation has accrued.
Levy any taxes in order to pay the debts that the nation has accrued.
To bypass Congress in order to pay the debts that the nation has accrued.

In fact in Article 1 Section 8 (the part of the Constitution that gives Congress the power to tax, appropriate and regulate commerce) states that Congress (not the President) shall have the power to borrow money on the credit of the United States. The 14^th Amendment doesn't and cannot affect the power that was given to Congress in Article 1.

All the 14^th Amendment does is require Congress to make sure that the debts of the nation are paid and the majority of those that are covered are the bonds held by bondholders. Almost everything else is required to be put on the back burner if necessary to insure that the bondholders get paid. This puts all payments to social programs (because they are not covered) on hold if the United States cannot afford to pay for them and pay the bondholders. Congress can chose to raise taxes to fund all other programs if they chose, but they must make sure the bondholders get paid before a penny goes to anything else. If Congress chooses not to raise taxes, then they are responsible for cutting spending to these programs (even if it means cutting them out all together) till the bondholders get paid. End of story. That is a fact that cannot be disputed no matter how much the White House try's to spin it.

If the debt-ceiling is not raised, the Obama administration would have you believe, that the US will default. Unless our Lord and Savior Obama, sweeps in and raises the debt-ceiling himself, superseding Congress in all his glory, we as a nation are doomed and will go bankrupt. This is simply not true, and no matter how much the administration says it is, it never will be true.

If the debt-ceiling is not raised, Congress will have 2 options left for them to pick from.

First, they can raise taxes, this is what the Dems are pushing (ever though Obama stated that in a recession you don't raise taxes due to the damage it will cause to the economy) for because that is all they seem to know. They don't care about the fact that that will hurt everyone financially during a time that they are already hurting, all they want is the increased revenue coming in to fund their lavish lifestyles. The Republicans don't want this option to be put in place because they understand that no matter who you raise taxes on, the working middle class and the working poor are going to be the ones to suffer in the long run due to inflation on goods and services.

The second option is to reform entitlement spending on social programs and put the responsibility in the hands of the people, not the government. This is the option that the Republicans are pushing for due to the huge amounts of waste and abuse that is rampant in the system. The Democrats don't want this, stating that it will disenfranchise minorities. What this translates out to is this... “We don't want to force these people to have a chance to better themselves by lifting them up and out of the state they are in by giving them personal control of their financial outcome in life.” Therefor the Dems elect to try to keep the people down, therefor making them reliant on the Democrat party to hold their hands since they will never learn to walk on their own.

I'm not saying that the social programs are bad, don't get me wrong there. We are a compassionate society and we take care of those who can't take care of themselves or have fallen on hard times. The problem is we have to many people who are dipping into the system that are very capable, they just don't want to take care of themselves because the government will do it for them. In some cases people will actually lose money if they go off government assistance. But I am getting off the point.

The point being, if the debt-ceiling is not raised we will not default, we cannot default. Congress has to pay the debt one way or another. The only way the this nation will default is if Congress refuses to do the job that they are bound by law to do. The Obama administration needs to stop the fear mongering (Obama stated today that that the government wont be able to issue social security checks on August 3 if the debt-ceiling isn't raised) about what the serious reforms Republicans are proposing to social security and medicare will do, and start talking seriously with Republicans on how to bring these needed changes about as smoothly as possible for all involved. Until Obama gets serious about this problem, the deadline will come and then it will really be time for the hard decisions.

Update:

The Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has proposed this afternoon, a bill that will strip Congress of its power to chose to raise the debt ceiling and turn it over to the President. I cannot put into words how big of a mistake this is. The proposal states that the President can propose a raise to the debt-ceiling up to 3 times a year, provided that he submit a plan with as much in budget cuts as he is raising the debt-ceiling by. Congress then can vote to disapprove the Presidents proposal blocking the raise... or does it? Here is the tricky part... the President can then veto (as long as there was not a veto-proof majority vote) the disapproval resolution and implement the raise without the spending cuts.

This is a stupid proposal on the Senator McConnell's part and any Republicans who vote for this proposal to pass are showing their real colors, they need to be removed from office and replaced with people who are looking out for our best interest. Giving up Congressional power just so you don't have to make hard decisions is a cop out and the American people don't need people like that in power.

Lindsay Smarter Then Obama? The Apocalypse is Nigh!

Recently Lindsay Lohan tweeted this "“Have you guys seen food and gas prices lately? U.S. $ will soon be worthless if the Fed keeps printing money!” Is this a sign that even Lindsay Lohan understands economics better then our own president? Does she have a better grasp of the irreparable damage that Obama himself is leading us to while claiming that he is fixing the problems? The answer.... sort of.

True, Miss Lohan did tweet a statement about the state of the US dollar and true, it made a lot more sense then anything that Obama (who is seemingly detached from the reality of the state that our economy is in) has said so far. Unfortunately, (much to my disappointment because I would have had more fun with this post) those words were not her own. Miss Lohan was paid by the National Inflation Association to tweet those words. When criticized about the tweet by her fans though, she replied “I actually do care about gas and food prices, so whether it’s an [advertisement] or [not], it’s important for people to be aware of it.” showing that even though the words were not her own, she at least aware that people should be informed about what is going on.

If Lindsay Lohan can sober up enough to realize there is a problem with the Obama administrations solution to the falling dollar, why can't Obama (who hopefully is sober, though sometimes I wonder) see that his policies are broken and breaking things further. I often wonder how Obama and his worshipers can look at the way things have gone downhill at an alarmingly fast rate since he started implementing his policies and think that things are on an upswing. It is plain for me (and most of the other people I have talked to) to see that his policies are destroying the dollar, why can't he see it? I honestly think Obama knows exactly what he is doing.

Originally I wasn't sure if Obama realized that his policies were destructive. I thought "Maybe Obama honestly thinks that his proposals will drive the country forward and upward even though historically socialism has failed every time they have been tried. Maybe he thinks that the American Machine will be the one thing that will change the fact that socialism fails." Now, I'm not so sure this is the case.

Ignorance of historical fact is one thing, staying the course and claiming things are getting better when at best they have plateaued is a different matter. Obama refuses to admit that there is a problem with any of his policies, in fact he goes out to address the people of this nation and lies straight to their faces. At this point, in my opinion, there is no way he can be ignorant of the facts. He is knowingly lieing to everyone about the state of the dollar, the unemployment numbers, the costs of Obamacare, as well as the policies the Republicans have introduced in an attempt to fix Obamas screw up.

The Republicans have even had to sit down with him and call him out on the lies he has told about the policies they were trying to pass to prevent the hole he is putting us in. Despite the Republicans correcting him (in case he was speaking out of ignorance) on the lies he was telling, Obama goes right back out and continues telling the same lies. This says to me Obama is willingly distorting facts in order to sabotage the plans that the Republican propose. I think he is doing this because he feels he has to prove his way is right and anyone else being right is a threat to his picture perfect world.

Obama feels he has to be right, therefor (in my opinion) he lies about things in a vain attempt to convince himself that he is right. If he keeps up his mantra long enough, I think that he thinks it will eventually become truth. Any sane person knows that just isn't the way the world works but that seems to be the way Obama thinks it works.

You can't print trillions of dollars to cover your costs and expect the value of said dollars to remain the same, just like you can't claim that you have positive unemployment numbers (it amazes me whenever Obama brags about how many jobs he has "saved or created" when unemployment is still creeping up and that's not even counting the people who have just given up) when you are still in the negative. Oh, and for the record, government jobs shouldn't be included in that because they are more of a drain (not saying government jobs are bad for the record) on the governments resources then they bring in.

Miss Lohan may not have tweeted her own words yet she at least seem to have a grasp on the fact that there is a problem even if she is just hitting on a small part of it. Maybe Obama needs to take a tip from Lindsay Lohan and acknowledge that there is a problem. Once he does that he can start working towards solving the problem, not making it worse.

Anonymous, Fighters for Freedom? Nay, Fighters for Fear

I have to thank the liberals that use the comments section of news stories on Fox News web site for inspiring this post. After an hour of trying to explain the simple concept of what qualifies as terrorism, I had to wash my hands of the willfully ignorant people (Yes I am talking about you "thinkanonymous") that populate those dredges.

The story was about the hacker group "Anonymous" and their recent attack against the city of Orlando, Florida by taking down their tourism website with the promise of more to come if their demands are not met. What are their demands you ask? They want the leader of the group "Food not Bombs" released from jail after he broke the law by passing out food to the homeless in one of the city's many parks without a permit. I know, it sounds like the city just arrested a person for having some compassion on those less fortunate, but lets get some facts out in the open.

1. The group "Food not Bombs" was purposely feeding people in the park in defiance of the law stating that a permit was required. These people knew that they were breaking the law and are lucky only their leader was arrested. If you knowingly break the law then you have to expect to have to pay the consequences.

2. The city had it's reasons for putting this law into place. They wanted to discourage the homeless from harassing the citizens and tourists of Orlando. This would also help cut down on crimes against the homeless that took place in these places. Also, it protects the people who get a license from lawsuit if they feed a homeless person who then chokes on the food or has an allergic reaction to the food.

3. The city isn't preventing people from feeding the homeless. If anyone wants to set up a soup kitchen for the homeless of Orlando in any of the parks, then all the have to do is obtain a permit for it. There are plenty of organizations and people out there that wish to help those in need and this gives those people and organizations a safe and legal way to do so.

Now on to my point...

Anonymous, by attacking Orlando's websites, have committed criminal actions in an attempt to create fear of retaliation if the city doesn't meet their demands. This by definition, is an act of terrorism, plain and simple. It doesn't matter about the method of attack, cyber or otherwise. Below is the definition of terrorism courtesy of Dictionary.com.

If Anonymous's actions don't fall under that definition then I don't know what does. Anonymous over the last few years has attacked multiple businesses and even government organizations to try to intimidate the victims into bending to their will. This is just the latest in a long line of crimes these terrorists have committed.

Also, to respond to some of the stuff "thinkanonymous" said arguing (his/her only defence was that what Anonymous did isn't deserving of death despite I kept trying to point out that not all terrorism crimes are sentencable by death) with me after I gave him/her the hand to talk to, he/she tried to make the case that Anonymous isn't terrorist...

Actually, yes it is, it falls under the definition of terrorism. It is all in the intent behind the action. Look back up to the definition above. Got it? Good. Moving on. You (thinkanonymous) kept insisting that I was calling for the members of Anonymous to be put to death, but if your tiny little smooth liberal brain would have read, I kept stating "Not all crimes that are acts of terrorism are punishable by death. Committing crimes in order to make people comply to demands out of fear of the ramifications of the consequences, is by definition, terrorism." Not that hard to understand, is it?

Anonymous is a without a doubt, a terrorist organization and it's members that are involved in these various attacks over the years should be tracked down and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for the crimes they have committed.

Needed Response to Idiots

I feel the need to respond to two letters that have recently been published (Wednesday, June 22, 2011) in the Letters to the Editor section of the Tuscaloosa News. I am first going to type up the letter so you can see them then post my response to each. I also plan to send this to the editor and hope they print it as a reply. Here is the first.....

What exactly has Israel done for us?

Dear Editor: This is in response to Debbie Jones' letter "America needs to wake up."

Jones would encourage the U.S. to support the nation of Israel with the silly notion that not to do so would mean that our "Western way of life would be in jeopardy."

I believe what we should be asking ourselves as a nation is, "What has Israel done for us lately?" When has the state of Israel contributed any troops in the numerous wars that are their own backyard? And just what do we get for the approximately $4 billion we send them each and every year in foreign aid?

In fact, Israel and its lobby (AIPAC) has had a very long, if not appropriate, influence in our electoral process and policies in this country. Congressional candidates are carefully screened by AIPAC for their views on the Middle East and are coached to modify positions that are regarded as unacceptable. In other words, they buy votes!

Jones writes that"God Bless America" would soon "ring hollow" if we didn't continue to support the state of Israel. In my opinion, we could probably all start counting our blessings if we would simply stop!

There is one point in Debbie Jones' letter that I can agree with though, and that's that "America needs to wake up!"

I hate to inform Mr. Hallman of this, but here goes... Israel has done a lot for the USA. Israel has provided military support in the Middle East without fail, when asked. Israel has pledged to support the USA in our endeavors in the Middle East, both in the political arena and the military arena. Israel has provided the USA with invaluable intelligence that have helped the military plan strikes against our enemies as well as locate objectives that the USA wanted to capture or rescue. Also, the Israeli Special Forces help train US Military troops on a regular basis as well as handle some of the interrogations on key Al-Qaeda members that have been caught so that we can keep our hands clean. Israel also has been a reliable staging ground in the Middle East for the US military.

As for the lobbying Israel does to our members of Congress, every nation tries to influence the politics here just as the USA does in other nations. If a nation can bring the politicians of another nation around to seeing things their way, it benefits them. Israel isn't out there brainwashing our members of congress as you suggest. Israel isn't buying votes anymore then the local city council member is when they hand out pens and buttons to their constituency while telling them about what they stand for.

Israel has done these all things for the USA while being surrounded on all sides by people who want to destroy them. I think Israel deserves more respect then it has gotten in recent days from the president and a small amount of the American people.

Now on to the address the second letter.....

Immigration law wastes state resouces

Dear Editor: Here we go again. The governor and the state legislators have been struggling with the budget to decide how to make do with the money that is in precious supply in this state.

So what do they spend their time on? Writing an anti-immigration law that is in lock step with several others that are already tied up in battles in the federal court system. Why do they think they have everything right where others are wrong? It is the same old thing, political posturing.

When resources are low we do not need to be inviting lengthy court battles that will take state attorneys, or worse yet, require the state to hire private attorneys, to fight this battle that the courts have already prevented from being enforced in at least two states.

This law is wrong on its face and any thinking person will have to agree. No one in America has ever had to carry citizenship papers on their person before now. This will really help in attracting foreign companies to open their doors in Alabama, I bet. So their employees and families can be harassed and jailed if they don't have the proper papers on them. Welcome to Alabama's version of Russia.

Mr. Formby has this all wrong. The reason the other anti-illegal immigration bills have been tied up in court is because the Obama administration is fighting against both federal law (which these bills mirror) and states rights to defend its citizens against an outside threat from another country when the US government won't.

This bill isn't an attack against immigration if it is done in the legal fashion. Also, all the bills that are being fought over from other states are not wrong. That has yet to be decided in the court of law. The parts that have been prevented from being enforced so far are the parts that the courts decided would be hard, if not impossible, to undo the damage done to someones' life if the final ruling goes against the bill. That does not mean the bill is wrong or illegal.

As for the lengthy court battles that shall arise from this bill being passed, if the bill is deemed legal and becomes law, it will save the state money in the long term as well as give US citizens the chance to fill the jobs that the illegals were preventing them from obtaining. This would be better for both our national and state economy.

Also, Mr. Formby states "No one in America has ever had to carry citizenship papers before now." What does he think a driver license or a state issued ID is? Doesn't he know that by law we are supposed to be able to present identification to law enforcement officers when asked? That part of this bill is nothing new, it is just a reinforcement of an existing law and anyone here legally has nothing to fear from this bill.

Oh, and as for the foreign companies that come here to build plants like Mercedes, any foreign citizen that is brought over to the USA to work is issued a workers permit that says they have a right to be here. That acts like a social security number for those individuals but with a time limit. It is the workers responsibility to get this renewed, not the states or the employer.

The companies that bring their business to Alabama from other countries do it because of the incentives Alabama offers to them, not immigration policy. They will continue to come to Alabama as long as they are offered these incentives and they will continue to employ Alabamians as long as this relationship continues.

Mr. Formby also states " Welcome to Alabama's version of Russia." Really? Wow, I didn't know Russia (or the USSR as I think Mr. Formby meant) had it so good.

1967 Israeli Borders? HELL NO!!!

Prime Minister Netanyahu,

I know you will probably never read this but, I'm going to have my say. Don't cave into Obama's ultimatum about the borders of Israel. He must have no clue what he is saying otherwise he would know how stupid and dangerous this demand is. His demands puts your nation in such danger from the enemies that surround you that it could ignite a full blown world war if Israel has an all out attack launched at it. Your enemies have proven time and time again that they will exploit any little opening and weakness that they can find in your defences. This ultimatum issued Barack Obama opens Israel for attacks on multiple fronts to where you will not be able to defend yourselves adequately.

I also want you and all of Israel to know that America is still behind you. We support you even if our President does not. The American people will not abandon Israel. Soon, Obama will be gone and hopefully we will elect someone who will openly show support for you and not the many terrorist states that surround you. The American people realize that every time you have given ground in the quest for peace, the ground you gave was then used as staging grounds to attack you.

Obama has no right to give you this ultimatum and, when it comes to the safety of your people, you have every right to ignore the insane demands of this ignorant pretender. Obama has shown himself to be one of the most warmongering Presidents in our history by starting multiple wars when we already had two wars ongoing. This madman has hidden behind the agenda of democracy for the Middle East while causing further destabilization that further threatens Israel.

I'm not sure if this is intentional, but I am beginning to question his motives. It almost seems as if he is seeking out the destruction of your nation. I hope this isn't the case, I would rather Obama just be an ignorant, inexperienced pretender, rather then the insane, warmongering dictator he is acting like.

Mitt Romney, AKA Obama 2.0

Ahhh, Mitt Romney. Don't you realize nobody wants you as president? We already tried giving a socialist a chance, and look at what Obama has done. We have record deficits, we are now waging 4 wars (yes 4 - Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and now Yemen), we are about to be forced into the crappiest government heath care system ever devised (based off your Romney-care, might I add) and racial tensions are at the highest since the civil rights movement.

You aren't fooling anyone Mitt. You promise to undo Obama-care, cut spending and promote and strong fiscal policy, yet look at what you did to Massachusetts. The American people aren't idiots. We know you will continue the work of Obama. You will indeed repeal Obama-care but, you will repeal and replace.... with your own version that will be the same thing, just worded differently. Thanks but no thanks.

We need a strong conservative to come forward to lead the nation, not another socialist that will run us further into the ground. We need a leader who isn't going to start 2 illegal wars (yes I know Obama still has the 60 days after the start to go before congress for the war in Yemen, but that time has long passed for Libya) because he/she decides it is best to bypass congress. We need a leader who will get serious about cutting the budget and deficit, not taking the money from one program, giving it to another (just because you shift money around doesn't mean you actually cut spending) then raising taxes to supplement the program you cut.

We need a leader who cares about the real injustices that occur to the citizens they represent, not pandering to criminals who don't respect our laws by coming to this country through illegal means. We need a leader who will stop trying to feed the world and focus on feeding the people of this great nation that are starving. We need a leader who realizes when we drop off aid to third world nations, that aid instead goes to the people that are preventing those nations to prosper and be able to take care of themselves.

We need a leader who realizes most of the rest of the world hates us and will never support us, no matter how much money we give them. We need a leader who will be willing to pull the money from those who don't support us and tell them to get over it. We need a leader who will stand by our allies like Israel instead of turning our backs and telling them to go back to the 1967 borders.

We need a leader Mr Romney, not a liberal slave who will swing which ever way the money blows. We need a leader who will make the hard choices that more then likely will hurt for a short period of time but will pay off in the end, bringing prosperity to all. We need a leader knows the value of the dollar and is willing to do what is necessary to make it stronger.

We don't need pretenders in the White House Mitt, we already have Obama.

Once again, I want to apologize for the long delay in my posts. I just haven't had the time to keep up with my blog due to work.

Today, I am going to present a mock news article ( I am not a journalist so forgive me if it isn't in a news format, I tried) presenting how I think the mainstream media would take about Obama if he were a republican. OBAMA ONCE AGAIN SHOWS INCOMPETENCE

Once again President Obama has shown the American people how incompetent he really is as the unemployment numbers took a jump this week. The Obama Administration, even Obama himself promised in the days leading up to this gross showing of idiocy, that there was no way unemployment could go up, the only way the numbers could go is down. Once the numbers came out, Obama and his administration refused to admit that unemployment had even gone up. The administration is acting as if the numbers went down instead of up, upsetting the Americans everywhere. His refusal to acknowledge the current unemployment numbers as evidence that his fiscal policy is a failure has Americans everywhere wondering why they elected such a moron.

This is just the latest of the absurdities that this president has subjected the country to since he has began his reign. Time and time again this president has shown himself to be nothing more then a petty dictator trying to pass himself off as mature leader who desires prosperity for America, not the destruction that all his actions seem to lead to. Who can forget after the election, how Obama stood up to his Democrat opponent, John McCain, and told him "The election is over John." This was the first showing of Obamas iron fist rule that was to come. He was later quoted as saying "Elections have consequences" implying that it was time to pay the piper because there was a new ruler in town.

He later tightened his dictatorial hand around the throat of the American people by passing a massive health care law that, once fully implemented guaranties the economy falls under the massive weight of this bill. That set insurance prices skyrocketing putting further strain on an already strained system that was in recovery thanks to the hard work of the Democrat President Bush. President Bush brought this country back from the brink of destruction after the destructive reign of Republican Bill Clinton, only to be followed by yet another Republican, Barack Obama, guaranteeing that the country slips back into the hole it was coming out of.

Later his ignorance came to light again as, due to Baracks negligence, we had the Gulf oil spill. Obama could have stopped it had he just cared, but did he? No. Then he waited days before responding and attempting to get it stopped. His pride was on full display as he turned down help from all our international allies who were offering all the resources that were needed to get this spill cleaned quickly. Then he dared to say that his justice department was going to be pursuing lawsuits against BP for an accident that he could have stopped had he just not turned a blind eye.

In the mean time, this Warmongering president has continued the wars that President Bush started out of necessity. Obama has made these wars all about oil as a way of furthering his power and the power of his corporate cronies in the oil companies. Recently he decided that those wars weren't enough, he needed even more, so under the guise of a humanitarian action he attracted Lybia. This has shown the world that America may soon become a threat. With such a warlord in charge America could attack anyone at any moment, including its own allies such as Israel.

How were we duped into electing this idiot? That's easy, he played himself off as being a black man, tricking white Americans into voting for him due to guilt over slavery. Black Americans on the other hand voted for him blindly based on the fact that they could finally have a black man as president to represent them. Little did these two groups know, Obama was laughing at them for his deception. This Uncle Tom showed his true colors once elected as an bigoted white man disguised as a black man when he promised money to the downtrodden in Detroit, then after making them stand in long lines, gave then nothing, breaking the spirit of those hard working Americans. Now that the 2012 elections are on the horizon Obama has once again put on the facade of a black man only this time he is trying to incorporate Irish into it as well.

The American people will not be fooled this time. Obama made the mistake of showing his true colors in his first term and no Americans will fall for it again. This buffoon will forever go down in the pages of history as the worst president in the history of the United States of America, worse then ten Jimmy Carters. We don't know who will be the next president, but it can't get any worse unless Obama somehow manages to pull out another win.

Always do your own research and formulate your own decisions, then vote for the candidate that you believe represents your views, not your race or background. Hold that person to the standards they claim to represent, hold them responsible for their actions. Don't be a sheep.

The Power of the People

Today I want to talk about the American people. The reason for this is the recent tornado that hit my hometown and destroyed most of my neighborhood.

In case you have been living under a rock (or like me, not had power of Internet for the last few days, though my power is back on finally, no Internet yet) you may not have heard of the F5 tornado that ripped through Tuscaloosa, AL causing massive destruction across the city and the rest of the state. Last count I heard, in Tuscaloosa alone, there are 47 confirmed dead and over 500 still missing. The city will take years to rebuild, yet with death and destruction all around, the people who have lost it all still lift themselves up and work to help one another.

Five minutes after the storm blew over my house I emerged wondering what wreckage I would find. I looked around at my neighbors homes to see trees down on top of them, trees down in yards, cars who's windows had been busted out from debris. My fellow neighbors emerged from their homes, dazed, as if in a dream, I must have had the same look on my face. We checked to make sure each of us were ok, then began surveying the damage to our homes. I was lucky. Other then my neighbors pecan tree down in my back yard and a few spots where shingles had been torn off, my house and property was undamaged.

We all pulled out cell phones and started trying to get in touch with our families to inform them that we were alright and to see how they were. Cellular service was terrible. Calling out was nearly impossible.

Some of my neighbors that had chainsaws saw that the roads were blocked by trees and knew if people were injured, emergency services couldn't get to them. They got to work clearing the way while the rest of us moved over to the next street, seeing if people were alright. Slowly over the coarse of an hour we made our way over the next 2 blocks... that's when we could see the true horror that this storm had left in it's path. The housing project that was nearby and all the houses close to it were gone, nothing but rubble remained. Police, firefighters and EMS were all working as hard and as fast as they could trying to pull people out of the rubble while trying to keep well meaning citizens out of the area due to exposed and busted gas lines and live wires laying about.

I describe all that so that you understand when I talk about how people have handled the aftermath.

The people of this city have all come together, volunteering their time and resources to help one another. We have people working side by side with the police and national guard to check homes and trees for people alive and dead. We have local businesses that were spared offering their services to those in need, not charging a dime. We have restaurants and individuals traveling the areas that can be traveled to offer food and water to all that need it. We have local hotels that weren't damaged offering shelter to the people who lost their homes. Even our locally owned Buddies food mart is selling gas at cost and donating gas to relief workers, just to help out.

The power of the people in this area is just a small showing of what makes the American people great. We have the most generous people in the world here in the USA. Where disaster falls we rise up and overcome it by helping each other as we can.

Obama Lied, The Economy Died

I was planning on using this post to use this post to detail how the Republicans lost the 2011 budget battle instead of winning it like you will hear from the news media, instead, due to recent events I must change my focus.

While it is true that the Republicans caved on their budget promise to the people of this great nation, I have now reached the conclusion that it is of no fault of their own that they could not complete this promise. It is hard to uphold your promises when you are so stupid that you will believe anything that is told to you by your political opponents, instead of fulfilling the promises you made. You have now set the stage for your defeat in 2012.

After all, we started out with a promise to cut 100 billion from the 2011 budget, but after much name calling, you caved. So then it was 61 billion, and you swore that you would stand firm on that, yet once again, the mud slinging caused you to slip and fall further. Wanting to prove that you didn't want women and children to die or old people to eat dog food, you dropped the cuts to 31 billion. Someone in the Republican party must have realized that a mistake had been made though, so you then worked it back to 38.6 billion.

You smiled and patted yourselves on the back after that, never mind that we the people were demanding that you ignore the vilification and keep your promise. The news media touted about how this was such a great victory for the Republican party and the Dems hung their heads in defeat, screaming bloody murder about how draconian these cuts were! But little did you know, that the Dems were actually laughing and praising themselves for being so clever. The Dems played up their defeat while the CBO got to work on the that actual numbers.

Within a few days the CBO report came out revealing the vile treachery of the Democrat party was thrown into the light. The 38.6 billion in budget cuts only came out to little more then 300 million, and on top of that it added 3 billion to the over all budget instead of actually cutting it.

To make matters worse it comes out that Obama had promised to cut 4 key czar positions then in a written statement said He would not hold up his end of the bargain. The czars that he was supposed to cut were, the Health Care, Climate Change, Auto Industry and Urban affair czars in case you were wondering. Obama lied, waited till all was said and done, then in written word confirmed too all that would listen.... he lied. In a bold move he openly admitted he lied, no sugar coating it, he lied.

Republicans, please explain how it is you trusted this war criminal to up hold his end of any bargain? He has already stated that he will do anything he has to to see his vision for this country come to pass, so how could you believe he would up hold anything? Are you really that stupid?

Think about it, the man that has passed illegal laws and shoved them down the American peoples throats, telling them they will thank him for it! This is the man that illegally went to war without the approval of congress! This is the man who talks down to anyone who disagrees with him because he knows better! This is the man who said he would cut the budget and then at every turn has tried to increase it instead! This man that has passes executive orders that fall outside his given power! This is the man who can't tell the truth about anything, because the truth one day may change for him the next! What the hell makes you think he would do anything he promised to do?!?!?!?

Now because of your caving on the 2011 budget, you have proven you can't be trusted as much as our future dictator can't be trusted.

Obama on the other hand is setting himself up to be the dictator the liberals claimed Bush was and there is no one in Washington that we the people can trust to stop him. The man has grown bold, knowing there is no one to oppose him, after all the Dems think he is the messiah and the Republicans are fools, easily lead astray.

Obama should be impeached for all the crimes he has committed, yet who will stand against him? Not the Dems, Not the Republicans!

Obama's 3rd War

Sorry for not posting sooner but work has been crazy busy for me recently. My posting will be sporadic till things slow down here, so now with out further adieu...

I know I criticize the President quite often, I do. The reason for this is the fact that I am not convinced all the things he has done that is tearing our country down were done with the best interest of our country in mind. Everything the President has done (in my opinion) points to him trying to destroy the values that this nation was built on. Now whether he is just an idiot without a clue or he is doing this with the destruction of our values and economic standing in mind, I don't know.

I want to think he is just an idiot, I do, but idiot or not, he is devaluing our nation's values, morals and economy.

To be fair, Obama isn't the one who started up down this path. This started many years ago when the progressives first got into power. They set up (I know there are more then this, just making a point) the federal tax system, welfare system, social security as well as legislation designed to push industry out in the name of conservation.

"But all those are for the good of the country and it's people!" you say. On the surface these programs sound good, right? After all, the country needs money and the only way to get that reliably is through taxes, right? Well, yes, the country does need funds to operate but what most people don't realize is the way it is supposed to be set up is the states tax their populace then the state pays taxes to the federal government. Not the state taxes it's people and pays the federal government while the federal government taxes the people as well. Originally the way things were set up it was states responsibility for setting the taxes for the people. This allowed states to compete with one another other and made the federal government reliant on the states to operate. This also insured that the states didn't have their sovereignty impeded upon by the federal government.

Once the federal income tax was forced upon the people, it opened the door for the feds to start taking over more and more aspects that had once been considered as the responsibility of the states. This has lead a lose of state sovereignty and an imposing of the federal government's will upon the people. (it has also led to tons of wasted money that was spent on things that it never was meant to for and this has lead to out lovely deficit, but that is a rant for another time)

And those who are unable to work due to disability or unfortunate circumstances should be taken care of, right? Why, yes they should, but the biggest problem with out welfare system is the amount of people that abuse it. In an ideal world it the welfare system wouldn't be needed anyway because the people that can work should support the people that legitimately can't. Unfortunately, this isn't an ideal world. There are people that just don't care about anyone other then themselves, therefor they don't care to help anyone. Then there are the people that realize that there are people who will lie and cheat to get others to help them, thus keeping the money from the people that actually need it, therefor they don't want to give money to help anyone.

The people who lie and cheat the system (this includes the politicians that take money from welfare and waste it elsewhere) are the ones that are breaking our welfare system. These people will do anything they can to avoid having to work and and contribute to society. I remember a group of girls as I was growing up that would talk about how they wanted to get pregnant as soon as they could and have as many babies as they could so that the government would take care of them. What a sorry bunch of losers! The sad thing is, our welfare system actually encourages this ridiculous and pathetic behaviour.

If we are going to keep the welfare system we really need to sit down, examine the people in it and go case by case to see who needs it and who is abusing it. If someone is mentally retarded and can't work then yes, they should be completely taken care of. If they can work but due to their retardation can't hold a full time job, then the should be supported by the system and have people who help them find jobs they can do and not be abused at. If someone is permanently physically disabled due to injury or birth defect them yes, they should be taken care of (much in the same fashion presented for the mentally handicapped).

If someone has fallen on hard times due to the various events of life, we should reach out and lift them up. The key wording being "lift them up" not "carry them completely". I think this is the key area where we need to go case by case. If someone has had life throw them a curve ball that isn't of their own devising (getting pregnant, buying houses you can't afford, and whatever other irresponsible actions you can think of are considered of their own devising) then they should be given a hand up. Helping them get their life in order so that they can pull themselves up and out of the hole and strike out on their own is a good thing. We just need to make sure they don't get locked into the system and that they make the effort to get back on their feet.

And if you work hard your whole life, paying into the system you should expect to have the system take care of you in your twilight years, right? If you are paying into the system then yes, you should get the return on your investment. The problem here being it should be an investment for you future, but politicians have access to your investment and and use it to pay for their little pet projects that will never put the money back that they take.

Social Security has actually become Social Liability due to this practice. The people who currently pay into Social Security are supposed to be paying money that they can then see when they get to retirement age. But slowly over time (due the the diligent help of our elected officials) it has slipped to where the people that are currently paying in are not paying for themselves, but are paying for the people currently on Social Security. The biggest problem with this is the law of diminishing returns. The more people that go on SS will draw more and more causing the people paying in to have to their money spread between more and more people. Granted you have more people entering the workforce and contributing, but, with inflation people are making less money, therefor paying less money and supporting more people. Everyone gets a little less more and more often, and when you factor in the politicians dipping their grubby little fingers into the fund, you have a problem.

SS is soon to be broke and everyone is turning a blind eye. We need to just dissolve SS and reform it in such a way that nobody else can touch your money that you pay into it. "But that will leave all the current retirees in a hole, abandoning them!" Not if you keep people paying a portion of what they pay into SS while also having them pay into the new system gradually and completely phasing out the payments to SS while phasing them into the new system. As well as placing protections on what is left in SS so that it can't be wasted on pet projects. Sure it will take a long time to completely shift to the new system but that is the best route I can see.

And who isn't for helping the environment out? Helping the environment out is all fine and dandy, but we have taken it to the point of ridiculousness. The environmentalist have so gimped our ability to tap into our nations natural resources that we are having to rely on nations that don't care about the damage they do to the environment for resources. In the process we are causing these nations to overtax their lands because of the demand, that they are doing more harm to the environment then we ever would. So by conserving our land here, we hurt ourselves economically (due to the high cost we have to pay others for stuff we have here naturally), we risk our sovereignty as a nation (due to having to rely so heavily on the other nations), and we assist in (this is for all you green movement people) destruction of mother earth by concentrating the damage done in a smaller, not giving it time to recover. So all the green movement crap is really counter productive when you look at it like that.

We need to stop screwing ourselves over and start harnessing our natural resources once again. it will help us economically and help slow the destruction done to the earth in other nations due to lowering demand.

Obama pushes these programs harder and harder trying to reinforce them and build them up, making them bigger and bigger. Eventually something will have to give. If we keep going along this path it will be us.

Mr. Obama, I know you think you need a way to secure your second term and the best way to do that is with a war. Sir, I implore you, don't make your third war with the American people.

The Democrat Party... Party of Freeloaders

Today, I'm addressing all the democrat senators out there who have fled their state or are planning to flee their state in order to block the new "Right to Work" laws from being voted on. Then I will address the republican senators in these states and end with a few comments to the people that read this.

Democrat Senators,

You were put into office to vote either for or against the bills, laws and legislation that are put before you, as well as to introduce new bills, laws and legislation. You are currently being paid by the tax payers of your state to fulfill this duty. It's really that simple. It's not even a hard job. The hardest part is understanding all the legal language in these documents and I understand that the double talk can get confusing. But, most of you have people who read these documents for you and tell you what they say by breaking it down into simple english. So when you think about it, all you have to do (and get paid to do) is say yes or no.

If either yes or no aren't good enough, you then have the option of presenting ideas that will be taken by the people that work under you, who then turn them into amendments that you get to present for more (are you ready for it?) yes or no votes.

"Well, you're over simplifying the work we do!" is probably what you are saying to yourself at the moment. I will admit, I am simplifying it a little, but not a lot. Even the long drawn out speeches you give aren't even written by you. Once again you fall back on the people under you to do all the work. You are nothing more then a face to present a collective view.

Now to be fair, it is the same on the other side of the isle. The republicans are just like you, they have people under them that do all the work, while they just present it and vote on it. The key difference is, the republicans are actually doing what they are paid to by showing up to vote and debate. They aren't trying to shut the government down by fleeing so that they can avoid the issues that they have been paid to deal with.

You, on the other hand, have been running away from your responsibilities like a thief running from a police dog. You have fled your states, running to states that have democrat governors out of fear that if you go to the red states you will be detained by the troopers in that state, the shipped back to your state where you will be forced to do your job. Oh the humanity!

Now, I understand protesting a bill by refusing to vote, I do... just not when it is going to lock up the system. Doing so while still accepting pay has made you all into a bunch of freeloaders. You are no better then the people who abuse the welfare system just because they don't want to be responsible citizens (I am only talking about the ones that abuse, not the ones that actually need it). You have made yourselves a parasite upon the tax payers of your state and you should be ashamed.

I hope the people in your state see exactly what you are doing and how you are stealing from them. If they do, then you are screwed. If they do, come next election cycle, this will hang like a cloud over your head as you are cast down from your high and mighty perch to the streets below. If they do, you will become a footnote in the pages of history, perhaps even forgotten all together.

You will destroy yourselves and the party you represent if you continue along this destructive path.

Republican Senators,

Thank you for coming to work even when your democrat colleges refuse. You are showing the tax payers in your state that you actually care about the work you were sent to do for your state. You are doing what many people feel is the right thing by sticking to your guns and not caving. Make sure that the people know that you are doing what you were sent to do and you will not back down because this is what the people of your state demanded.

Also, be sympathetic to those that disagree with you, empathize. Let them know that you understand their concerns and will address them as best as you can. But do not cave on your principles, that is what got you in trouble the last time. If you give in and let yourselves be overrun you will not get a second chance.

You have a lot to prove and make up for in the eyes of the people. Trying to pass as "At least I'm not as bad as the democrats are!" isn't going to cut it. You need to show the people that you have backbones, that you aren't going to just bend over and take it any more. Stand and fight.

Now is the time to prove yourselves.

We are at a time where our country has a lot of important decisions to make. We, as citizens of this great nation, have to stand up and let our leaders know where we stand. If we sit by passively, let the minority of people who want to see the US go the way of Europe take control and overrun our state houses and our national capital, then we deserve to fall. But I have faith that we as Americans are better then that. We will stand up and fight for every inch of ground. We persist. We do not back down. We will prevail.

We must not allow the self-destructive policies that have been pushing up to the brink to continue. We must use the power of the vote and throw the people (both democrat and republican) out of office that have brought up to this place. We must draw the line and be ready to defend it at all costs.

The Great Education Heist

Anyone who has been paying attention should know about the current teachers strike up in Wisconsin. The teachers union in the state has a bunch of it's members crying bloody murder because of legislation to end collective bargaining (In fact, some of the teachers have gone so far as to bring in their students so they can hide behind them, students that have no clue why they are there.). Anyone with half a brain knows this will cripple the unions in that state and if it can be passed there, it can potentially pass anywhere in the US. That makes it a threat to unions everywhere.

Obviously, you can't expect the unions to sit back and just take this. They are, when you think about it, fighting for their continued existence as they currently are. In fact, the unions are so afraid of this passing that they have started shipping in people from other states to build numbers. If this law passes the union powerhouses will be a thing of the past, at least in Wisconsin. This much is true, but there is a lot of misinformation out there trying to cover the truth of what is happening.

The unions claim that if this law passes, union workers (teachers being the main target here) will start being fired left and right, that they will have their pension plans stripped from them and that they will lose all the benefits they have worked to earn.

Take this into consideration, IF the law passes and the state starts firing teachers without regard to their service or abilities, the state will just cripple itself. For this reason, the only teachers that should have anything to fear are the ones that are just crappy teachers. My personal opinion is that all the teachers that lied about being sick just so they could go on strike and protest at the capital are the bottom of the dung pile. They are the ones that must realize they are such horrible teachers that they feel the only way to keep their jobs is to try to bully the state government. These are the one hiding behind the kids they teach (mean while these days that the teachers are on strike count as snow days. Poor kids, don't realize this is just going to make the school year last longer and longer.).

Also, if all the teachers were to have their pension plans stripped away, how would the state be able to bring in bright new teachers to educate the children? Wisconsin would have no way to stay competitive in the field of education if they were to do this. Anyone who really believes the state would hurt itself like this is an idiot. All the state wants to do is require the teachers to pay 5.8% into their pensions so that the state can devote the difference in tax money to the hole the state is in. For that matter, it is only a less then 1% change to the take home pay of the teachers. I realize that that will be a little pinch in the pocket, but if it allows the state (provided they do what they say they want to with the money) to dig it's way out of the financial hole it is in, it will be worth it in the long run. I'll go so far as to say, it will help the students that these teachers claim to care about so much.

On top of all this idiocy, the state Democrats have fled the state in order prevent having to sit down and make a decision on where they stand on the law. By fleeing they have locked up the process they claim they strive to respect. They are making a mockery of the legislative process by doing this and I think the next law that needs to be implemented after this one passes is one that requires by law, senators to show up to votes they have been informed about. If they don't show to vote, then they should not get a vote. It's that simple. They are still getting paid to do their job, yet like these teachers, they are refusing to do what they are getting paid to do. If I were to do this I know what would happen to me.... I would be fired faster then I could blink.

While I think Governor Walker is doing a superb job not backing down, in fact, I think he should go one step further. I think he should do what President Reagan did when PATCO went on strike in 1981. Governor Walker should give the teachers 48 hours to return to work, if they refuse then they should be fired. The state should not waste anymore money on people who aren't willing to do the job they agreed to do when hired. There is an overabundance of teachers out there looking for work so it wouldn't be hard to find replacement teachers.

Think about what the children are learning from this strike. This strike (if it succeeds) will teach these kids that if they complain loud enough they can get away with anything. This warped sense of reality will cripple them when it comes to the professional world. They will grow up thinking they should be given hand outs for nothing and there should be no repercussions. This line of thinking will lead to a whole generation of losers who don't have a clue and will destroy themselves.

Also any of the children that are affected by this strike, have something to hold over their teachers heads. After all, how can these teachers expect to punish these kids for anything. They have set an example for these children that says you should be rewarded for acting out. This is the wrong message to be sending such impressionable minds.

Lastly, Mr. Obama.... I hate having to single you out..... again. This is what is referred to as internal state politics. You have no business in them. Learn your place, because apparently you don't know it. Stay out of states rights, you have no place there. If asked your opinion, that is one thing, but you weren't. You jumped right in and started to chastise the Governor for sticking to his guns even though he is in the right. You offered support to the people who are are trying to break the system, which as far as I'm considered that is like the equivalency of you coming out in support of Al-Qaeda. You might want to think about where you stand, because it sure looks like you want to destroy the system that makes this country great. Stop aiding this heist of our education system.

The Bullet Trains to nowhere

I don't know if anyone who reads this blog has heard about the Presidents grand plan for a bullet trains here in the good ole US of A, so if you haven't let me bring you up to speed. The President wants to put am $8 billion (yes, billion) dollar down payment to begin funding a project that will span the majority of the continental US states. Now keep in mind, that is just the down payment. The actual estimated is roughly around $35 billion per state (larger states costing more and smaller costing less, obviously).

The majority of the costs to build the train will come from the federal government with the states that the trains will go through chipping in. Unfortunately, that means that people who live in these states are going to effectively be taxed twice on these trains. The states are also responsible for the planning, developing and building of the the project, so once again, the tax payers in the states that this is passing through, get shafted for the costs. Also, most of the maintenance costs are going to be heaped on the states as well. No matter how you look at it, everyone is going to have to pay in order to get this monstrosity built and keep it running.

Some governors, have been more then happy to hop on the bandwagon and agree to take federal dollars (with all their little strings attached) to get started on this "visionary" project. I'm not going to name any of these states because you can find out easily which ones they are. Needless to say the states in question are all bankrupt and should be focusing on how to pull themselves out of the hole they dug instead of agreeing to dig more.

Other governors have refused to accept the federal funds, stating that they will not be a part of the project because it is such waste of money and places further burden on the tax payers in their state. These governors realize how damaging this will be to the economy, not just for their state, but the US economy as a whole.

Due to the willingness to not cooperate (a wise decision in my opinion), the rails from some of these states will connect to... nothing. This I must admit, makes me laugh.

Mr. Obama, please, stop wasting our money on stuff like this.

The new Illegal Heath care law

My first REAL post, YAY!

Ok, today, in case you couldn't tell by the title, I want to talk about the new Health care law. A law that has illegally been implemented by a bunch of politicians that have no respect, nor care to respect, our constitution. This law forces people to buy health insurance or face a fine. The people that this law claimed to help is only going to punish them instead.

How does nObama expect people who can't afford insurance already to be able to afford it when the prices get jacked up even higher? They can't!

How are the people who have to take medication everyday for things like Lupus or Diabetes etc. supposed to afford their medicine when the price jumps because nObama made a deal with the Pharmaceutical companies? They CAN'T!

All this Law is going to do is make the rich get richer and the poor get poorer by widening the gap between the two. The middle class is going to vanish and all these idiots in Washington can do is either pat themselves on the back because only they know whats best no matter what the American people think or whine because they don't have the balls to stand up to the ones who put this idiocraty (my word, I claim it) into place.

And lastly, to the real conservatives, keep pushing. Fight till you have no fight left then fight some more, don't let these well meaning, yet harmful people another inch of ground. They want to destroy what makes this country great so the rest of the world can feel better about itself. Fuck the rest of the world. Lets get our shit together and show the rest of the world why they should look up to us. Because we are the best there is, but we won't be if we let ourselves be drug into the ground with the rest of the world.

I plan on using this blog to share my personal political views. If you are offended by politics or only look to argue about them regardless of the views presented, please that your rhetoric elsewhere. While I am not out to target any political figures, understand that the nature of their jobs will place them in the line of fire sometimes. I do not advocate the use of violence toward any of our leaders. I find it reprehensible that people would commit acts of violence against our political leaders.
